For many of us, this can look deceptively normal.
You show up.
You get the work done.
You care for everyone else.
You keep going.
We can become very good at caring for others while putting our own care on hold.
Even when you're exhausted.
Even when your mind won't slow down.
Even when your body is telling you it needs a break.
Chronic stress isn't just “in your head.”
It's a whole-body experience.
When the stress response doesn't get enough opportunity to settle, it can affect:
· Sleep - how easily we fall asleep and how restored we feel
· Focus & memory - attention, recall, and decision-making
· Mood - irritability, overwhelm, and emotional regulation
· Digestion - appetite and gastrointestinal function
· Pain - muscle tension and the way the nervous system processes pain
The good news is that self-care doesn't have to be complicated.
Sometimes it can be as simple as changing your breath, listening differently, releasing tension, becoming aware of what's happening in your body, or giving yourself permission to pause.
Music & Mindfulness: A Self-Care Bag of Tricks gives you a chance to experience these practices firsthand - and discover which ones belong in your own toolbox.
