For many of us, this can look deceptively normal.

You show up.
You get the work done.
You care for everyone else.
You keep going.

We can become very good at caring for others while putting our own care on hold.

Even when you're exhausted.
Even when your mind won't slow down.
Even when your body is telling you it needs a break.

Chronic stress isn't just “in your head.”

It's a whole-body experience.

When the stress response doesn't get enough opportunity to settle, it can affect:

· Sleep - how easily we fall asleep and how restored we feel
· Focus & memory - attention, recall, and decision-making
· Mood - irritability, overwhelm, and emotional regulation
· Digestion - appetite and gastrointestinal function
· Pain - muscle tension and the way the nervous system processes pain

The good news is that self-care doesn't have to be complicated.

Sometimes it can be as simple as changing your breath, listening differently, releasing tension, becoming aware of what's happening in your body, or giving yourself permission to pause.

Music & Mindfulness: A Self-Care Bag of Tricks gives you a chance to experience these practices firsthand - and discover which ones belong in your own toolbox.

🎵 NEW DATE: October 17, 2026 · 9 AM–12 PM PT

Update: this Saturday’s workshop will be rescheduled.

We’re mindful that this time of year can make it difficult to commit - between travel, scheduling, and competing priorities.

We want this experience to feel accessible and intentional, not rushed.

We’re especially grateful to those who registered and were preparing to join us.

Stay close - we’ll be sharing a new date soon, along with more time to plan and prepare.

Music therapist. Parent. Partner. Friend. Daughter. Aunt.

At some point, Lindsay realized she couldn't keep waiting for the "right time" to care for herself.

She had to intentionally create it.

In this short video, she shares one of the simple, creative practices that's become part of her own self-care bag of tricks - and one of the many you'll explore together during Music & Mindfulness: A Self-Care Bag of Tricks.

Because self-care isn't something we find. It's something we make space for.

What if self-care wasn't something we earned through productivity?

We're often reminded to take care of ourselves so we can be better clinicians, better caregivers, better parents, and better partners.

But what if we cared for ourselves for another reason?

Because we're people.
Because we're worthy of that care, too.

Lindsay Zehren, MT-BC shares the shift in perspective that inspired Music & Mindfulness: A Self-Care Bag of Tricks - and why she's passionate about helping people build realistic, sustainable practices that support both their work and their wellbeing.

If this message resonates, we'd love to welcome you to our in-person workshop on July 18 in San Diego, CA.

Caring for others is your work, but who is caring for you?

As helping professionals, so much of our energy goes outward - into care, support, and service of others.

What often gets overlooked is what it takes to sustain that work over time.

Lindsay Zehren, MT-BC, offers a simple but powerful invitation: what might it look like to intentionally turn some of that care inward?

Our upcoming Music & Mindfulness workshop is designed as a space to step back, set intentional boundaries, and experience restorative practices firsthand, while also exploring the science and application behind them in clinical and community settings.

A day to pause, restore, and experience mindfulness-based practices you can bring into both your personal and professional life.

So you can keep showing up for others without losing connection to yourself.

Community in motion 🌷🫂

We’re grateful to the for the opportunity to be part of the Step by Step Walk event - connecting with individuals, families, and professionals across the Parkinson’s community.

From walking alongside participants to gathering in rhythm through our drum circle, the day was a reminder that connection can take many forms, and that everyone can participate in their own way.

The Step by Step Walk brings people together through movement and community, values that extend beyond the event and into programs like AudAbility, where music therapy supports voice, movement, cognition, and connection for individuals living with Parkinson’s.

“When the music starts, he smiles, sings along, and the entire room feels uplifted.”
-Spouse of Person with Parkinson’s
