Say hello to 👋

I’m from India, Punjab. It has been a year since I've started my PT career.
And I would say the most unique thing is that I don't have a clinic or work for a rehab center/hospital, I'm a freelance PT. Just give me a call and I will do private sittings at the patient's house.

Sciatica is a condition which can become very painful and frustrating really quickly. It is most commonly related with intervertebral disc herniation but, there's an another cause of sciatica which is much easier to tackle and is easy to fix.

Piriformis is a small muscle located behind the gluteus maximus. It is in very close proximity to the sciatic nerve and even in some cases the sciatic nerve passes through the muscle itself.

When this muscle gets tightened, it irritates the nerve and causes sciatica. Tightness in this muscle can be due to prolonged sitting at a desk job or postural habits like sitting with legs crossed.

Try these exercises to get relief from sciatic pain without the use of any drug and the best part is, you don't need any equipment for this and these exercises can also be done to get relief from sciatica caused by disc herniation!

What questions do you have for him this week?! Stay tuned for more posts!

This week’s takeover comes to you from !

Originally I started my page to help myself and others study for the NPTE and it worked well, I received my passing score for the NPTE last week! I guess my new official title is now Dr. Kurt, PT, DPT, CSCS, even though I doubt I will be often calling myself doctor. What do y’all think about physical therapists calling themselves doctors?
I plan to continue questions on my page but I was also hoping to make the page into a little more. Is there anything y’all wish you saw more posts of on physical therapy pages? Thanks for your insight and hopefully this question got your gears turning. Explanation is below!
.

ANSWER EXPLANATION
The abdominal reflex is a common superficial reflex and because of this is graded as present or absent.
Deep tendon reflexes are graded on an ordinal scale from 0-4+.
Hypoactive, normal and hyperactive are general terms used to describe the responsiveness of deep tendon reflexes to stimulation.
Zero (0), trace (1), poor (2), fair (3), good (4) and normal (5) are manual muscle testing grades.”

Thanks so much to for the last takeover! This coming week we’re heading south with

Hello everyone! My name is Dr. B (aka ) and I am a physical therapist at a private outpatient clinic located in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA. I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Go Billikens! I have completed various continuing education courses on different manual orthopedic interventions and most recently completed my certification in Dry Needling from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy.

I treat a mixture of orthopedic and women's pelvic health conditions. The pelvis is my favorite body region because of the impact it has on our locomotion, bladder & bowel function, and sexual function. My method of treatment is to find the driver that is causing the impairments, not just treat the symptoms.

I am certified in Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain, which means I counsel patients on using a food-forward approach to help manage and even reverse chronic pain. Food is medicine and everyone has to eat! I believe physical therapists are one of the best health care providers to educate patients on their nutrition due to the time we are able to spend and the relationships we are able to foster.

I am excited to share some of my knowledge on functional nutrition and physical therapy. Hopefully you will take away some tips and tricks that can be implemented in the clinic. If you like my content, please check out my page and follow me at !

Can’t wait to follow along this week! Stay tuned!

Thank you for the most recent takeover! This week we’re switching gears and following along with !

Hey guys! My name is Kristin Westover and I am a at in New Jersey, USA 🇺🇸. I earned my master's degree in physical therapy from in Hamden, CT in 2007. Since graduating, I have earned the title as a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist (CIMT) through , which distinguishes my ability to take a more advanced approach to evaluate dysfunction and provide hands-on intervention. My method of treatment is eclectic, using a variety of techniques such as joint and soft tissue mobilization, muscle energy, and functional exercise. I have an extensive background of continuing education that focuses on intervention using manual therapy techniques.

🤲 I became a physical therapist because of my interest in the human body and wanting to gain an understanding of how things worked. I take a ‘whole body approach’ and truly enjoy the challenge of determining the driver of a client’s dysfunction rather than just treat their symptoms.

🧠 I look forward to sharing some of my knowledge with you. If you like my content, please check out my page and follow 🙌

Stay tuned! We can’t wait!

Hey there, 2020!! We’re starting off the new year with a takeover from 🤗 Stay tuned!!

Hello everyone! My name is Kelly and I am a physiotherapist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Last year was a very exciting year for me and my family as we welcomed our daughter, Blaire, I opened my home physiotherapy practice and became certified as a pelvic health physiotherapist! (By exciting, I mean crazy 🤪) We also moved 3x and we completed a major home renovation, but I won’t get into that 🥴

My goals for 2020 are to grow my home physio therapy practice and help empower women for labour & deliver - I feel that physiotherapy has an enormous role to play and I’m very excited to be a part of this change. I love being a new mom and using the skills and knowledge I have gained throughout my MPT program to facilitate my beautiful daughters grow through play and help her master each gross motor milestone!

What I hope you learn over this takeover is a bit more about opening a home business, peds motor development and women’s pelvic health, specifically related to labour & delivery!

Can’t wait to follow along this week, be sure to check her out 🤗

As I’m winding down this takeover - I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone for your awesome questions and comments and THANK YOU to for giving me this opportunity!

I absolutely love sharing what I do with the world and I hope more PT’s will choose to work with animals in the future. There aren’t enough of us out here!! It makes such a big difference in their outcomes when they actually get rehab rather than just rest, medications, injections, and surgeries (big surprise there right?? 😅)

If you want to keep up with me in the future, you can find me on Instagram at or on Facebook under the same name!

Thanks again y’all! This has been so fun!
