🐬💙 A MESSAGE TO FUTURE DAILARD DOLPHINS!

Today’s Welcome Wednesday included a very special moment in Dailard’s 50th Anniversary celebration -- the closing of our time capsule! ⏳

Student representatives from each class came forward to place collages they created that captured the things they enjoy today -- from Fortnite to Stanley bottles to squishies -- giving future Dolphins a fun glimpse into what Dailard kids loved in 2026. Other pieces of the time capsule will help document this moment in history as well, including a current newspaper, class photos and other keepsakes.

The ceremony also included the presentation of special proclamations to Principal Wilson recognizing Dailard’s 50th anniversary from the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego.

With students, staff and families gathered together to watch, the time capsule was closed and will be opened by a future generation of Dolphins. The kids were so excited knowing that someday Dailard students will get a glimpse of what life at our school was like in 2026. 💙

It was a pretty special way to help bring our 50th Anniversary celebration to a close, although we're not quite finished yet! 🎉 Spirit Week continues through Friday, ending with Dailard Gear Day!

50 years of Dailard history, with a little piece of 2026 now saved for the future. 🐬💙

🎉🐬 HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY, DAILARD! 💙

What an incredible celebration! Thank you to everyone who joined us Saturday to celebrate 50 years of Dailard Elementary!

We welcomed an estimated 250+ guests, including current and former students, teachers, staff, families and friends. It was especially wonderful to see old classmates reconnect, former students reunite with teachers, and generations of Dolphins come together again.

From student performances and special guests to our walk through Dailard history, photos, memories and birthday treats, it was a wonderful celebration of the school and community we've built over five decades.

A huge thank-you to our volunteers, teachers, staff, families and Dailard School Foundation board members whose time and hard work made the day possible. 💙

And the 50th celebration isn't quite over! We're finishing our anniversary month with Spirit Week, September 28–October 2 -- Pajama Day, '70s Day, Dress to Impress, Sports Day and Dailard Gear Day! 🎉

Here's to 50 years of memories, friendships and Dolphin pride -- and to the generations still to come.

Once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin! 🐬💙

Countdown to 50: DID YOU KNOW? 🐬

A little piece of Dailard history has been hiding in Mrs. Hernandez’s classroom!

Longtime Dailard teacher Stacy Hernandez, who began teaching here in 2001, has held onto Dailard yearbooks and T-shirts from across the years and she recently let us take a look through some of her collection as we prepare for Dailard’s 50th anniversary.

Flipping through the yearbooks is like opening a Dailard time capsule. The covers change with the times, the Dolphin appears in all kinds of different styles, and each book represents another group of students and families who have been part of Dailard’s story. 💙

Mrs. Hernandez has watched a lot change during her 25 years at Dailard, from classrooms and technology to traditions and generations of students, but one thing has remained constant: Dailard’s strong sense of community.

And yes, we’re still trying to solve our Dolphin mystery! 🐬 We know the Dolphin was already Dailard’s mascot when Mrs. Hernandez arrived in 2001, but we’d still love to know when it first appeared and how it was chosen.

Former Dolphins: Do you recognize any of these yearbook covers or Dailard shirts? How far back do you remember the Dolphin mascot? Tell us in the comments!

🎉 Dailard’s 50th Anniversary Celebration 📅 Saturday, September 26, 2026 ⏰ 10 a.m.–12 p.m. 📍 Dailard Elementary, 6425 Cibola Road
