Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTH has evolved into an integrated network of sixteen charter schools serving approximately 6,350 students in grades K-12 across four campuses. Our teachers follow a learner-centered, inclusive approach that's all about supporting and challenging each of our students. Here, students are encouraged to pursue their passions through engaging projects while also reflecting on their learning journey. We truly believe that personal growth and identity development thrive within a strong community context, so we've designed our schools to foster trust, care, and mutual respect among students and adults. This includes elements like small school sizes, intimate classes, home visits, advisories, and collaborative student work. Our school projects are a testament to the integration of hands-on learning and interdisciplinary inquiry, leading to the creation of meaningful and beautiful work. What sets us apart is that our students engage in work that genuinely matters to them, their teachers, and the wider world outside of school. We're all about connecting our studies to the real world through fieldwork, community service, internships, and consulting with experts. Our facilities are collaborative spaces with small-group learning areas, cutting-edge technology, and communal spaces where we proudly display the artwork, prototypes, and other artifacts of our students' creative thinking.
