Last weekend our student leaders attended the Summer Leadership Institute in Washington DC, where they met with their representatives at Capitol Hill to lobby for bills currently in the House and Senate. These bills could potentially play a pivotal role in the scope of practice for pharmacists, and we encourage you to read more about them below and contact your local representative in support of these legislations.

HR 7189: PrEP Access Act - aims to expand PrEP screening and access via pharmacist services

S 2426: Equitable Community Access to Pharmacy Services (ECAPS) - expands pharmacist services with test and treatment for illnesses such as RSV, Strep, COVID, and Flu while providing Medicare part B reimbursement for services.

HR 3164: Main Street Pharmacy Access act - very similar to the ECAPS bill with added specifications for billing which designates how pharmacists would be reimbursed for Medicare-reimbursed services

Happy World Immunization Week! Celebrate with us by tuning into our stories for educational vaccine content  💉

“World Immunization Week, celebrated in the last week of April, aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. 🫂
Through its convening power, WHO works with countries across the globe 🌎 to raise awareness of the value of vaccines and immunization and ensures that governments obtain the necessary guidance and technical support to implement high quality immunization programmes.
The ultimate goal of World Immunization Week is for more people – and their communities – to be protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.”  💌  (https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-immunization-week)
