Welcome to Adopt an Aztec -- Where friends can become family.

Living far way from home to attend college can be difficult for many students. Being around what seems like nothing but other college students can actually get to be quite tiring. Often times what these students really want is something they never get... a home-cooked meal!

The hardest part of living away from home though is being away from family. We understand that no one can replace family but we do believe that having an Aztec Family here in San Diego allows students to the chance to feel included in family activities, dinners, holiday celebrations and much more when they can’t be at home with their own families.

Our goal at Adopt an Aztec is to create opportunities for SDSU students who are from out of town to connect with local families/individuals in the community who want to serve as their Aztec support and mentor families during the time these students are in San Diego. Through monthly social events with the Adopt an Aztec community, our hope for our students and mentors is that they form lasting relationships that grow outside of our events and last well beyond students’ graduation from San Diego State.
