Today, we celebrate World Environment Day, a day focused on encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. In 1982, Black environmentalists from Warren County, North Carolina protested the dumping of toxic pollution next to their community. The Warren County PCB Landfill Protests led by these Black environmentalists ignited the environmental justice movement that we now know today.⁣

At A.S., we fight for environmental justice but we also fight for justice for our black community.
