Join us Monday morning to honor our dear student Italia Bernay. You are welcome to leave flowers or remembrance items at the grassy area near the library. You can also write messages or connect with others on campus during this time and throughout the day and week. Counselors and mental health professionals will be available all week in the library for any student needing additional support. Remember you are not alone and there will always be someone for you to talk to about what you’re feeling. We ask that you please respect the family’s privacy, those who witnessed the event, and those who are grieving her loss by not inundating them with questions during this time. We hope to see you tomorrow, Pointers. You matter. 💐🫶
Here is the community update from Principal Jaffe. Please keep her, her family, the students, and staff in your thoughts.

Students will be released on Mondays at 2:40pm. To see the updated bell schedules, please click here. In order to make room in our schedule for our early release days, we are reducing the number of final exam days from 3 to 2. You can view our 2024-25 Color Calendar for more information.
6th Period PE Athletics
We have updated our PE Athletics guidelines in order to provide equitable access to resources and a positive learning environment for our student athletes. See below for the key changes. More specific information on classes can be provided by your student’s counselor.
• Only 10th grade returning athletes are granted access to PE Athletics at the start of the school year and will remain in PE Athletics for the entirety of the school year.
• 11th-12th grade returning athletes need to work with their counselor to either enroll in Assigned Time Home (if qualified) or PE Athletics for the entirety of the school year.
• PE Athletics is a Physical Education class and will adhere to Physical Education content standards and curriculum.
• Study hall will not be offered - all students will participate in the Physical Education curriculum depending on whether they are an in-season or out-of-season athlete.
• 9th graders will be required to enroll in a 9th grade Physical Education class with the exception of those athletes whose team practices during 6th period.
◦ The 9th graders that qualify will not be eligible for PE Athletics until the head coach has confirmed that they are rostered to the team.
• Transfers in and out of PE athletics will only occur during designated transfer periods as to not interfere with academic enrollments. See our grade reporting document for more information.
PLHS has a long-standing tradition of excellence and pride in the community, and we look forward to our new students being part of this family and welcoming back our returning Pointers! We hope that you and your student(s) will take advantage of the many opportunities at PLHS this year.
Have a great school year!
