Last Friday, the Children’s Center welcomed their fall semester Child and Family Development Student Interns for orientation!

Our CFD Student Interns get the opportunity to learn from experienced educators, create and implement meaningful learning experiences, put child development theory into practice and grow as future early childhood professionals.

It’s more than an internship. It’s hands-on learning, mentorship, connection and growth — for our students and our children.

We had so much fun meeting everyone and we cannot wait for what this semester holds. We love being part of the journey as the next generation of early childhood educators find their voice, build their skills and discover the joy of teaching.

There’s nothing quite like hearing about the Children’s Center experience from the families who have been part of it.

We’re sitting down with Derrick, whose child recently graduated from the Children’s Center, to hear about his time with us and some of his favorite memories along the way.

From first days to graduation, we’re so grateful to be part of these early years and to watch each child grow, learn and explore. Thank you, Derrick, for sharing your experience with us!

Caption: More than two decades ago, Kobe Sanders of the Los Angeles Clippers was a child in the Pandas classroom at the SDSU Children’s Center.

Recently, Sanders returned to his childhood classroom with a major announcement: the center has received a meaningful grant from video game publisher NBA 2K and 2K Foundations. This funding is a direct result of a mentorship program for LA youth that Sanders facilitated during the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend.
