For more than 30 years The Child's Primary School (TCPS) has guided hundreds of San Diego youth on a path to high school, college and beyond that is rooted in a genuine love for learning. We recognize that a student’s journey of learning from the ages of 5-14 isn’t only happening in a school setting with academic content. TCPS faculty and staff create an environment where students are encouraged and feel safe to take risks, and to strengthen their ability to foster relationships. Connecting students’ experiences in the classroom with the real world is critical. We accomplish this with a creative and expansive curriculum which includes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) along with the arts (STEAM). Pythagoras salutes, Euclid the Elephant, and wrapped textbooks—Joyful GEMDAS Day was a success! 🎁📐

​Yesterday capped off our two-week math "preseason," where TCPS middle schoolers previewed upcoming modules to build a growth mindset. To celebrate, we carried on our favorite GEMDAS Day traditions:

​✨ Illuminating the Lanterns of Math Wisdom 🏮

✨ Giving the two-handed right-triangle salute to Pythagoras 📐

✨ Counting to 100 by perfect squares (1, 4, 9, 16...) to unwrap textbooks

✨ Caroling through the halls spreading "Joyful GEMDAS" cheer! 🎶

🍎🍯 Shana Tova! 🍯🍎

Our Kindergarten and 2nd grade classes had a special visit from one of our wonderful TCPS parents to learn about Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year! Students learned about traditions, heard the shofar, and enjoyed the sweet tradition of dipping apples in honey to welcome a sweet new year. 🐝🍎✨
