For more than 30 years The Child's Primary School (TCPS) has guided hundreds of San Diego youth on a path to high school, college and beyond that is rooted in a genuine love for learning. Still dreaming of the pines! 🌲✨ Way too many memories to unpack from Middle School Camp. So proud of our students for stepping outside their comfort zones and making it a week to remember!

Our kindergarteners had an unforgettable visit to the local fire station as part of our Community Helpers Unit! 🚒👩‍🚒 Students learned how firefighters help keep our community safe, explored the fire truck, and asked so many thoughtful questions. We are so grateful to our local heroes for taking the time to teach and inspire our students! ❤️🔥

🕷️🕸️ Our Second Graders wrapped up their literature study of Charlotte’s Web with a full day of themed learning and fun! After weeks of reading and discussing the plot, theme, characters, and making inferences, students celebrated by dressing as their favorite characters (lots of Ferns and Wilburs! 👧🐷), participating in reading and math activities, designing STEM pigpens with functional swinging gates, and enjoying a special Charlotte’s Web Reader’s Theater performance planned by our Fifth Grade class! Bravissimo! ✨

Three months of research, writing, and creativity--all leading to today!

Our 6th graders became experts while working on their Big Reports, then brought their countries to life through presentations, visuals, and even a taste of culture. So much pride in this room. 🌍✨

The 7th graders wrapped up their Outsiders unit with the annual Outsiders Day! ✨

Dressing as Greasers and Socs, sharing novel-themed treats, and watching the movie rendition-- this is the kind of middle school experience that sticks!

Even if your child isn’t in middle school yet, these years shape everything.

Confidence. Independence. A love of learning.

At TCPS, our K–8 model keeps students engaged, challenged, and supported from Kindergarten through 8th grade. This continuity matters most during the middle school years, when students navigate critical social, emotional, and academic transitions—and grow into their most confident, capable selves.

Where students are seen. Where students are heard. Where students thrive. 💜

✨ Wizard of Oz Day ✨

Kindergarten celebrated the magic of literature by stepping into the world of Oz! From following the yellow brick road to dressing up as our favorite characters, our kindergarteners explored imagination, adventure, and the joy of storytelling. 💛

Because at the end of every great story… there’s no place like Kindergarten! 🌈📚

Our students had an incredible hands-on learning experience with alumni parent Mr. Earley and his assistant Meg, one of our TCPS alumni! 🐟✨

They explored fish anatomy through dissection, then connected history and art by creating fish prints using ink and rice paper—just like people did before cameras.

Learning truly comes to life through experiences like these!
