Last month, Logistics teamed up to create DIY cat & dog toys for the San Diego Humane Society! We made cat scratch circles with recycled cardboard from our warehouse and donated fabric from the UC San Diego Craft Center, as well as traffic cone scratchers and dog rope toys. A few employees donated food and toys, too! Thank you to the Event Planning Committee for dropping off the toys at the SD Humane Society and to everyone who participated in the event.

Outbound Shipping is shining with two employees of the month for August!

Jonathan M. has been with UCSD for 6 years, and is currently a Hazmat Shipping coordinator. His passions are baseball, music and his kids. There is no place he’d rather be than at Petco park on a summer night! Fun fact - Jonathan has been to two MLB all-star games.

Sean N. has been with UCSD for 11 years, and is currently the High Risk Shipping Department lead. When not at work, he loves spending time with his two kids. Fun fact - Sean played D3 college football at The University of Redlands, and has broken nine bones so far in his lifetime.

Camp IPPS is back with 30 instructor-led courses spanning hot topics in Oracle, Concur, Payables, Logistics, and more. Join Receiving & Distribution, Outbound Shipping, and Surplus Sales at our sessions! Registered campers (attendees) will receive UC Learning credit for each class they complete.

The training is "in-tents"! So plan ahead. Register early to add classes and Camp IPPS events to your calendar.

July’s Employee of the Month is Mike Diena, who has been with Logistics for 4 years. Mike started as a Mail Processor and is now Student Mail lead. He is originally from Philly and is a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, but holds the Padres close to his heart now that he lives in San Diego. Fun Fact - Mike has been to 16 out of 30 Major League Baseball stadiums.

Looking for a part time student position? UC San Diego’s Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS) is looking to hire students to join our team in the processing and distribution of Campus and Student Mail and packages.

Must have valid driver’s license, 2+ years of driving experience preferred. Up to 19.5 hour/wk; Flexible shifts of variable length during the hours of 7AM-4PM Monday-Friday.

Want to get involved? Logistics is hosting a donation box at The Trove for unwanted, unused, or unopened pet food/toys! All donations will go towards San Diego Humane Society, a non-profit animal welfare organization committed to ending animal homelessness. For more info, please visit sdhumane.org. During the pandemic and campus closure, Outbound Shipping remained fully operational in support of UC San Diego’s world-class education and research.

We played a vital role assisting collaborative research - including COVID related shipments, and we also provided expedited service to assure quick set up of home offices and student supplies for distance learning.

Our team is happy to have been able to help the UC San Diego community during this difficult time and truly appreciate being a small part of the amazing things done on this campus.
