College Bound Class of 2027 is in the books!
Our recent journey up and down the California coast with 36 of our amazing rising seniors was one for the books! Over the course of the trip, we explored eight fantastic colleges and universities, giving our students an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes look at what college life is actually like.
We logged over 20,000 steps a day, navigating sprawling campuses, bustling dining halls, and iconic quads. But the physical miles were just the backdrop to the personal growth we witnessed. Along the way, we watched new friendships blossom, old interests deepen into real academic passions, and independence thrive. By the end of the trip, these students weren’t just touring campuses; they were envisioning their futures, taking ownership of their college search, and stepping into the next chapter of their lives with confidence.

Congratulations to Dana Klein, who was recognized for her commitment to her students for over 29 years, as Clairemont High School’s Teacher of the Year. She was honored on Wednesday at San Diego Unified Stars in Education Ceremony. Mrs. Klein has devoted countless hours beyond the classroom to bring real life learning to her students. Through her over 10 year partnership with SAY San Diego, she has brought important mental health awareness and drug and alcohol prevention to not only her students, but the larger Clairemont Community through the annual Health and Medical Sciences Academy Town Hall: “From Sugar to He**in: Preventing Substance Abuse in the Community.” In addition, Mrs. Klein was acknowledged by the SDSU Teacher Education Program for her over 15 years of serving as a Mentor Teacher for Teacher Candidates entering this noble profession. Congratulations Mrs. Klein.

Congratulations to Jessie Nettles, Clairemont HS Volunteer of Year, who was recognized at the SD Unified Stars in Education Ceremony. Jessie is the current CHS Foundation President, a member of the CHS School Site Council, and a mentor for the CHS 11th Grade Mentor Program. He has coached baseball and boys volleyball. Jessie has supported both baseball and softball with field maintenance and projects and he was instrumental in the redevelopment of the CHS Beach Volleyball courts. Jessie is an amazing person and has always served the communities his family is involved with. We truly appreciate Jessie at CHS! When you see him, let him know you appreciate him too.
