Sustainable Economics for our One Earth home We advocate for what we call "One Earth Economics".

JEM has roots that go deep and that help us to see our personal and corporate economic decisions in a larger context. We come from a background in the Jewish and Christian world, but the principled economic wisdom we promote is not the domain of that tradition alone, but instead is practiced from a common understanding that runs like a thread around the world in societies that know this innately—t

Building a Moral Economy Initiative:
Pathways for People of Courage

Participants in this Jubilee Forum will meet Cynthia Moe-Lobeda who’s leading a team
of people in a major project that enables people to participate in building a more
equitable, ecological and democratic economy. She and her team (who we’ll meet in
future Forums) give us pathways to live a moral economy. The pathways challenge us.
Do we have the will? the faith? the courage? the moral imagination?
Cynthia will unfold some pathways to building a more ecological and equitable
economy, why she undertook this initiative, and the bold scale of it.

Here’s Your Invitation to the Free October 4 Forum
on Moral Economy with Cynthia Moe-Lobeda
9 am PDT

The word “moral” is not the word that comes to mind to describe the U.S. “economy.” Immorality in the current economy makes it our job to imagine an economy that generates moral relationships with Earth and all her inhabitants.

Good morning,
This coming Saturday, Jeanne Peterson will talk at the Jubilee Forum about her experiences accompanying people in courthouses and doing something to resist disappearances. She sent this article which I found fascinating. Its link to Latin American accompanying resonates for me. Witnessing to the reality that people are being disappeared stirs me rather deeply. Whatever compassion that can be shown strikes me as profoundly human and spiritual.

Pastor: Should I send my children to school?

Pastor: Who will take care of my children if I get deported? I'm afraid to go to work.

Pastor: You say we shouldn't open the door,
but if the police knock very hard, should I open it or not?

Pastor: Could you be the person who stays with my children if both of us are deported?

Our plan is to buy groceries online because we're too afraid to go to the stores.

Pastor: If I get deported, they will kill me there.

Pastor: I'm not going to accompany you to the house services or the united service anymore. I'm too afraid to leave my house.

Pastor: The only person my children have here is me. I pray to God that I am not deported.

I fled from sexual abuse in my country 15 years ago. I have nothing there; my children don’t speak Spanish very well.

Huge Wealth Endangering Democracy and Life for All

with Guest: Chuck Collins

Contact [email protected] to request the Zoom link.

We wrestle with autocracy and capitalism. Sometimes they do what we hope for. But most of the time they do not. They are designed to tilt to wealth and domination, not to Earth and her multitude of species. So we give a lot of effort to creating alternatives to economic and political dominators. That is also what Chuck Collins has done and continues doing. Our hour with him will help us.
