I have 31 years of science teaching experience and am credentialed in CA to teach chemistry and biology (and soon physics, too). As a science teacher for over three decades, my favorite aspect of working with students was helping them one-on-one or in small group settings. Coming in a close second was hamming it up in front of class making my students laugh while learning science. As a tutor, I get to teach in my preferred scenario: with individual students or groups of two or three kids. I also (try to) infuse some humor into my sessions. In my career, I taught a variety of science courses: A.P. Biology, chemistry, physics, biology, and anatomy & physiology. Psychology was another course I enjoyed teaching. I have California teaching credentials in chemistry and life sciences, and my physics credential will be posted this fall. I know how to teach scientific concepts. I know how to teach problem solving skills. I know how to help students identify what they need to do to improve and succeed in their classes. That is, I utilize the skills I have developed over the years to assist students in reaching their goals in their science courses. In this time of COVID-19 uncertainty, many students are likely to struggle in their courses as they deal with altered curricula and ever-changing platforms of learning.
