Another lifer from the PEP Program achieves a Parole Grant. There’s been so many we can’t name them all. Congratulations Kevin! Thank you for your dedication to the group, facilitating the curriculum, and being a mentor to the men striving to go home. Job well done!

Tonight, 5/30/25, PEP Board of Parole Hearings Preparation is conducting Mock Hearings at RJ Donovan E yard, facilitated by Joel Abreu, a stalwart leader of the group. I want to thank him for his service to the men in PEP and being a selfless leader. It makes me happy to know there are many men continuing to benefit from the group I created in 2004.

Congratulations to Michael Perez for achieving parole suitability today at RJDonovan. Mike is an original member of the PEP group on A yard. He was a facilitator and leader in the group. After 26 years, he finally earned Suitability. Co-founder Tommy Gray, myself, the PEP Outside Team, and the entire PEP Family want to congratulate Mike and his family on this wonderful achievement. The BPH asked him what his favorite group was. Mike’s response was the PEP program, because the group helped him heal his trauma. What an honor it is for all of us. A special mention of gratitude to Fritzi Horstman, founder of The Compassion Prison Project, for her generous donations of the Trauma Talks series. Your addition to our curriculum has had a major impact on the healing of our group members and public safety.

This photo of the first RJD Facility A PEP group was taken shortly before my release. I’m so proud of these guys for the courage they have to confront their past, make amends, and prepare themselves to become law-abiding citizens upon their release. Special thanks goes out to Johnny Tran (front row on the end)for his leadership and commitment to the group. Well, done brothers.

This is Benito Miranda. He is featured in an article on PEP’s page. The article covered the Compassion Prison Project and their donation of the Truama Talk series to the PEP IAG at RJD.

Benito is a facilitator of the life skills, BPH prep and Trauma Talks curriculum, that PEP provides to its participants.

All his hard work has paid off, and he is one of many PEP lifers that have been released just this year. Benito will be coming home any day now. Please congratulate him and his family! I know this man will be a force for good in our community. Well done my brother.
