💻 Fundamentals of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics
Learn coding in R, work with real biological data, and gain skills that may lead to a published scientific paper.

To the test… Students load their samples for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) after extracting DNA. After this step, they’ll have many copies of their gene of interest, and the sample will be ready to send for sequencing.

Hands on! Lab students have the opportunity to work in close proximity with the specimens involved in their experiments. Pictured are two students holding Red Abalone – a subject similar to the Black Abalone, the star of the ongoing eDNA conservation project in partnership with the National Parks Service (NPS).
