The process of learning is an interesting one!

Yesterday I learned I am more apt to take a “punch” than to throw one. I participated in my first class involving sparring (very gently and with added protection…this is not a “knock ‘em out” kind of class) and I was nervous. Before starting this process, I’ve never hit anything…and now I’m supposed to “hit” a person??? 😣🫣

Here’s the thing, I chose this. Do I ever want to hit someone or hurt someone, no! Have you met me?!?!?! But what I do want is to understand what I am capable of…physically, mentally and emotionally…in an outlet that is completely foreign to me, from the movements to the culture and the processing of it all.

When you haven’t been a beginner at something for a long time….that by itself is a humbling experience. It also allows you to practice patience, giving yourself some grace, and the art of being playful (not everything needs to be serious

I live my life as a • G O A L • oriented person. It is always a priority to • Get Out And Live • In this last chapter of Keara-ness, it feels as if I have followed this effort to an elevated level and began to •Get Out• further away from my comfort zone •And Live• among entirely new experiences!

In less than two weeks, I will be back in the California sunshine to rejoin my team for the 🥳 I will be in a much bigger boat but this is just about where the finish line is and I hope we come out feeling as victorious as I did here!

Being in NY while my team is in SD has been interesting. All of my training has been done solo on land while they are together on the water. It feels a bit exhausting at times to only feed off of my own energy on the erg, but it’s been a learning process.

The two greatest takeaways have been…

1. I am strong 💪🏽 enough to get through this on my own. I’ve always done team sports and I feed off of the team mentality! While it’s still a part of the process, I had to rely more on just me to get the work done.

2. Even if I’m the only on the erg at the moment, I’m not ACTUALLY alone. I have my team 👯‍♀️ doing their work while I do mine. I have endless cheerleaders 🚣🏼‍♀️ in my ear whenever I need one. And I have an amazing accountability partner 💞 that always motivates me to keep pushing!

✨Moral of the story✨ I’m strong enough to do it alone even though I never have to! 🥰🥳

Find what makes you happy! Pursue it! Let go of any attachment to the outcome and simply enjoy the process…I promise you will feel like an entirely new person.
