✨S T U D I O U P D A T E S/ P I V O T S✨
[if you are uninterested in the storytelling and want to get to the “how does this impact me” parts of this post…no judgement…just scroll until you see the ✨s]
Since its conception, Curious Plover Studio has been a place (primarily) to create beautiful things with our hands and hearts - together. The studio “looks like” art classes, and (with any luck) feels like a place to steep in the slow and beautiful moments in life.
This is a super huge year for our family. It’s our last year in San Diego, and we are wrapping up this massive chapter….JMR’s military career. I am smart enough to know that there is a lot I don’t know. And as a person with a relatively low threshold for chaos - I find myself leaning towards allowing extra space for the unknown. (Military spouses will understand when I say: throughout this chapter, one of my primary roles has been to support the family, be the constant, and keep things running smoothly. We are the buffer).
All of that to say this…. Curious Plover Studio is shifting (at least in this moment). My heart is bursting with a million ideas of classes to offer, books to read to your kids, projects with new and exciting materials, camps, garden projects….and the list goes on. I want to serve others by offering this special space to connect and just…make.
AND ALSO
Creating it all feels a bit daunting. (Especially knowing it will be concluding in just a short while).
In trying to strike a balance between creating spaces that do good and feel good - and what I can, realistically, sustain here are some things you can expect from Curious Plover Studio for the 2026-2027 academic year:
✨fewer class offerings…but bigger events when they are on the calendar (think Saturday Art PARTY). we will “go big” - we just won’t “go often.”
✨less on social media (keep scrolling for a more elaborate explanation)
✨more service to others, the community, and intention on connecting with our families. This means, the events will serve others!!! If it doesn’t involve giving back to the community, or family connections - I am will not be pouring my energy into it. ART FOR GOOD
Living at a slower pace is a true luxury. I want to lean into analogue….. into slow beauty. I want to put my energy into things that take time to blossom. I want to spend time offering things that feel authentic - like little gifts from my heart. I will be moving away from social media (it simply doesn’t align with my mission and I don’t like spending time in that space). Here are ways to stay connected and feel the love:
✨HANDCRAFTED NEWSLETTERS with studio ins and outs, updates and love
🎬action: share your email with me to get some happiness in your inbox (promise not to spam you…. I don’t have time for that. expect a curated love letter-y email once a month-ish). If you’d like to share you info, please message me or text me.
✨personalized and heartfelt SNAIL MAIL!
🎬action: share your physical address! if you feel like tossing a buck or two via venmo to help me cover stamps and material, that would be amazing…but not necessary. I just want you to love mail again
✨TEXTY TEXT UPDATES: for the nitty-gritty or special workshop offerings
🎬action: join a one-way text blast if you don’t want to miss events and things happening at Curious Plover Studio. Again, it will feel like a text from a friend that requires nothing in return. Stay informed. Receive little bits of love, pick-me-ups, and tips on how to weave more creativity and connection into your busy daily schedule
I am planning an event for September!!! Stay tuned
Big love and boatloads of hugs
