In two weeks, my youngest daughter, Kayla, will start college.
Time flies, and I can’t believe I’m even saying that.

She’ll be attending Miami University, my wife’s and my alma mater. It’s where we met, where I’m now privileged to teach and mentor students, and soon, where the little girl I once walked into kindergarten will begin her own journey.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on legacy.

For me, legacy means more than a family tradition or a shared alma mater. It’s about the impact we leave on the people and places we touch, the kind of influence that continues long after we’ve stepped away.

It’s meaningful to me that I studied here, continue to pour into this community, and now get to see my daughter benefit from it- but it’s also a reminder that we have opportunities every day to shape a different kind of legacy, the one we leave with our teams.

What if we were as intentional about developing people as we are about preserving traditions?
What if we committed to leaving every team member better than we found them, equipping them to perform at their best and make an impact for generations to come?

Here’s the “to-do” I’m challenging myself (and you) with this week:
Identify one person on your team who could benefit from your encouragement, insight, or mentorship, and take action. Maybe it's a conversation or an opportunity to grow.

Legacy isn’t built in a single moment.

It’s built in moments like that, day after day.
