At Judo United, we believe there is more than one way to build a great judo program.

Traditionally, most tournaments recognize only the top overall teams based on total points earned across every division. We will continue that tradition at the 2026 San Jose Open with our Grand Champions – Overall Team award, but this year we are taking team recognition a step further. Professor Leon Jay stopped by the dojo this week to share the legendary Small Circle Jujitsu “Dance of Pain” with our summer campers!

Professor Jay is the son and successor of Professor Wally Jay, the founder of Small Circle Jujitsu. In 2002, Professor Wally Jay formally passed the title of Grandmaster to Leon, who continues to preserve, develop, and share his father’s system with martial artists around the world.

Our campers were treated to a fun and memorable demonstration of how precise control, leverage, and seemingly small movements can have a very big effect!

Thank you, Professor Jay, for spending time with our campers and sharing some of your knowledge with the next generation. It was an honor having you at Cahill’s!
