The San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) Study Abroad Program is a district-wide initiative for sending SMCCCD students from our three colleges - Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College - abroad for short-term study abroad programs that are credit-based and non-credit experiential learning. The Study Abroad Program is part of the Global Learning Programs and Services Division located at the Skyline College campus of the District.

🇬🇧✈️ London is calling… and our Fall 2026 students are ready to answer!

Before takeoff, our London Study Abroad cohort gathered for their Meet & Greet to connect with classmates, meet their faculty, hear from past participants, and get excited for the incredible semester ahead.

To celebrate their upcoming adventure, students enjoyed A Taste of Britain featuring authentic Scottish Walker’s Shortbread, English Breakfast tea, British-inspired treats, and refreshments while learning more about life in London.

Over the next few months, they’ll be living, learning, and exploring one of the world’s most vibrant cities—building friendships, broadening perspectives, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

From student...to Study Abroad Student Assistant! 🇯🇵

This summer, Mirella embraced every opportunity to learn, explore, and immerse herself in Japanese culture: From wearing a traditional kimono and visiting historic temples to sharing unforgettable moments with classmates and faculty throughout Kyoto.

The experience didn't just create lifelong memories, it inspired her to give back.

We're excited to welcome Mirella as one of the newest SMCCCD Study Abroad Student Assistants, where she'll help future students begin their own international journeys.

💫 Looking ahead? We're also excited to announce that Summer 2027 will feature a 6-week Global Internship in Japan, offering students the opportunity to gain professional experience while living abroad and experiencing Japanese culture firsthand.
