Trip Recap: Sedona Cabin and Explore
November 28 - December 1, 2024
Thursday:
Thanksgiving morning started early as the group packed their gear and hit the road by 8:30 AM. The 6.5-hour drive was the first ācourseā of the day, with scenic desert views and quick stops to refuel along the way. By the time we arrived at Crescent Moon Ranch Cabin, everyone was ready to stretch out, get comfortable, and enjoy a much-needed dinner together. The evening wrapped up quietly as the team settled in and prepared for the adventures ahead.
Friday:
The day began with breakfast at the cabin before heading out to the Airport Mesa Trail. This 3.5-mile hike offered stunning panoramic views of Sedonaās red rock formations, making it a highlight of the trip. Afterward, we took some time to explore Sedonaās downtown, browsing shops and taking in the local charm.
Back at the cabin, the evening turned lively with a round of Cheaters Edition Monopoly. Deals were struck, alliances formed (and quickly betrayed), and everyone leaned into the chaos that made this version so much fun. It was definitely a highlight of the trip!
Saturday:
The morning started with breakfast and packed lunches before the team headed to the Devilās Bridge Trail. Despite its short length (1.8 miles), the hike offered some of the most stunning views of the trip, including the breathtaking natural arch that is Devilās Bridge. The photo ops alone made the trek worth it.
After lunch, we visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross, an iconic landmark blending architecture and nature. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings provided the perfect moment to reflect on the trip before heading into town for dinner. Returning to the cabin, the group packed up and enjoyed one last relaxing evening together.
Sunday:
We headed to the Red Rock Crossing Trail and Grotto Dwellings. Exploring ancient rock art and learning about the history of the area brought a historical touch to the trip.
By early afternoon, the team started the journey back to CSUSB, stopping for dinner along the way. Arriving on campus around 10:00 p.m., everyone wrapped up the adventure feeling accomplished and grateful for a weekend well spent.
