May 22 - 25, 2025
Our Sedona camping trip kicked off with a chill first day. After picking up participants from both CSUSB and the Palm Desert campus, we headed straight to the cabin where we’d be staying for the weekend. Once we arrived, we settled in and prepared burritos for dinner before winding down for the night. we started the day with some delicious French toast before heading out to hike the Broken Arrow Trail and then spent the afternoon by the creek, where everyone had a chance to unwind and have fun. On the third day, we woke up to hike Devil’s Bridge and took in the beautiful scenery. We then drove to our second hike to Boynton Trail, which ended with a fun walk through a tunnel and some incredible views. That evening, we went out to dinner in downtown Sedona and wrapped up the night exploring the local shops before heading back to the cabin. On our final day, we added one last adventure to the trip by exploring a lava cave.

Our Santa Rosa Island adventure began with a ferry ride across the Pacific and a short hike with ocean views. CSUSB Adventure Trip Recap: Big Sur
May 18–21, 2025
We spent four days camping at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, exploring the coast, hiking, and relaxing with the group. Here’s how it went:
⸻
Day 1 – Sunday, May 18
We had a 7-hour drive into Big Sur since Highway 1 was closed, so we took the long way around. Once we got to Pfeiffer Big Sur, we set up camp, chilled, and had a mellow night by the fire.
⸻
Day 2 – Monday, May 19
We kicked off the day, hiking the Creamery Meadow to Ridge Bluffs Loop at Andrew Molera State Park — about 8 miles with solid elevation and great views of the coast. After lunch, we stopped by a local library that had cool art and music, which was a random but interesting change of pace. Then we hit Partington Cove for a short hike to a creek and a beach cove before heading back to camp for dinner and s’mores.
⸻
Day 3 – Tuesday, May 20
We started at Bixby Bridge for some quick photos, then drove to Point Lobos. We hiked the South Shore Trail and Cypress Grove/Sea Lion Point — both short and scenic. Later, we went to McWay Falls to catch the waterfall and chill before sunset. Ended the night with one last fire at camp.
⸻
Day 4 – Wednesday, May 21
After breaking down camp, we stopped in Carmel-by-the-Sea to explore the town a bit before heading back to San Bernardino.
⸻
Overall:
It was a good mix of hiking, views, chill time, and getting out of the usual routine. Big thanks to the CSUSB Adventure crew for putting it together.

Great Basin National Park and Star Train – SBC
June 5, 2025 - June 8, 2025
Come enjoy a four day camping trip at the quietest national park and ride the Nevada Northern Railway Company Star Train! Great Basin National Park is home to a diverse landscape of mountain terrain, salt flats, high-altitude desert valleys and is recognized as a premier International Dark Sky Park. If the peace, quiet, and beautiful landscape isn’t enough the Great Basin is home to the fascinating limestone caves and the only glacier in Nevada. We will be sleeping in tents under the stars for three nights and exploring the National Park, taking a hike to Wheeler Peak where we will see the alpine lakes and the one and only glacier making its way down the peak. We’ll take the journey to view the most unique Lexington Arch that has formed of limestone, and if that isn’t enough limestone to see we will explore the wonderful limestone Lehman Caves. On our return drive to CSUSB we will stop at Cathedral Gorge State Park to explore the dramatic cave-like formations and cathedral-like spires.

Day 1:
We started the trip with an early morning drive to Yosemite. The views along the way were beautiful, and the energy was high. Once we arrived, we set up camp and spent the rest of the day settling in and exploring the area a bit. The night ended around the campfire under a sky full of stars, an awesome start to the trip.

Day 3:
Our last day started with a visit to Mariposa Grove to see the giant sequoias. Walking among those massive trees was unforgettable. After the hike, we packed up and hit the road back to campus, tired but feeling good after such a great trip.
