Today we say goodbye to someone who has been such an important part of the Upward Bound family 💙
From being an Upward Bound student in the Class of 2019, to serving as a Student Assistant, Peer Mentor, and eventually our Lead Coach & Academic Advisor, Samantha Lucero’s journey is a true example of what TRIO works looks like in action. Over the years, Sam has poured so much time, care, and dedication into supporting student success, building relationships with our students, and making higher education feel accessible and possible for every student she worked with.
Her impact on this program, our staff, and especially our students cannot be measured. While we are very, very sad to see her go, we are also incredibly proud and excited to watch her continue to grow, thrive, and serve the community in a new capacity. We know she will continue changing lives wherever she goes.
Thank you for everything, Sam. Upward Bound will always be part of your story, and you will always be part of ours. 💐

💚 TRIO Day of Service Recap | Coyote Cares Day 💚

Our Upward Bound Link Crew Leaders proudly led two service projects in collaboration with ETS and the CSUSB Coyote Cares Day Team to celebrate National TRIO Day of Service.

✨ Students wrote encouraging letters and made bracelets to donate to children receiving treatment at Loma Linda Hospital, spreading hope and positivity beyond our campus.
🪨 They also painted affirmation rocks filled with positive messages that will be placed throughout CSUSB to encourage wellness and support for students and staff.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of National TRIO Day, a celebration of the transformative impact of TRIO programs. Over 6 million TRIO alumni have gone on to earn degrees, build meaningful careers, uplift their families, and strengthen their communities.

National TRIO Day reminds us that when we invest in first-generation and low-income students, the impact extends far beyond the classroom, creating generational mobility, civic engagement, and lasting social change.

We’re proud of our Link Crew leaders for embodying what TRIO is all about: service, leadership, and community. 💚
