This morning, the Operation New Hope team had the privilege of participating in a powerful financial literacy training led by our valued community partner, Mr. Solomon Ari Shapiro , CEO of Living Better 101.

At ONH, our Board of Directors and CEO remain deeply committed to the holistic health and well-being of our staff.

As part of that commitment, we are proud to offer each team member access to a dedicated Credit Coach through Sol and his team providing professional guidance for those looking to improve or restore their credit.
Because we believe real change starts from within.

As our Founder always reminds us:
“You have to walk the talk when you are working with youth and those seeking positive change.”
We’re excited to take this work even further by launching monthly financial literacy workshops at our San Bernardino Community Resource Center, open to both our students and staff.

Together with Living Better 101, we are embracing a mission that goes beyond quick fixes

✨ Focusing on true financial empowerment through credit restoration, not just credit repair.
This is what it looks like to invest in people, lead by example, and build stronger communities.

We’re incredibly proud & want to encourage our 12 dedicated students as they begin Week 2 of our 8-week Utility Line Career Certificate Program!

This journey is more than training, it’s a pathway to opportunity, stability, and long-term career growth.

Through the power of partnership, this program is made possible by:
San Bernardino Community College District and the support of our funders —
California Workforce Development Board, California Board of State & Community Corrections, San Bernardino County Workforce Development Board, and the City of San Bernardino.

The utility line career pathway plays a critical role in our communities: focused on constructing, maintaining trees, and repairing essential electrical and telecommunications infrastructure that keeps our world connected and running.

This field offers:

✅ Job stability
✅ Apprenticeship opportunities (3–4 years)
✅ Rapid wage growth from apprentice to journeyman

Last year, our Board of Directors and CEO made a commitment to invest in renovations; from brand new flooring and interior paint to updated furniture, ensuring our center reflects the excellence of those we serve. With an investment of approximately $80,000, we’ve created a clean, safe, and modern resource center for all who walk through our doors.

Honoring Juneteenth 🤍
Today we recognize Juneteenth—a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of justice.
Though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865, that freedom reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. More than two years later—freedom finally arrived.
Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth reminds us that freedom delayed is freedom denied.
As we commemorate this day, let’s do more than celebrate—let’s reflect, learn, and take action. Our history matters, and honoring it helps shape a more just and hopeful future.

We are proud to recognize Amirion Gonzales for the incredible personal and professional growth he has demonstrated throughout his time with us.
Amirion is currently participating in a County Utility Training Program and has also enrolled in college, taking important steps toward building a bright future. His dedication, perseverance, and commitment to self-improvement continue to inspire those around him.
Throughout his journey with Operation New Hope, Amirion has been a valuable team member, contributing his time and energy to numerous events and projects. From our Halloween and Christmas celebrations to our Pop-Up Clinics, he has consistently shown a willingness to serve and support his community.
We are grateful for all of Amirion’s hard work and efforts, and we are excited to see what the future holds for him. We know he is destined for great things!
