Dear San Bernardino High School families! Have you ever considered hosting an international exchange student and bringing a new language and culture into your home and community? We have students looking to come to study abroad in California for the 22-23 school year! With your support, they could attend Summit High School!

We have some incredible students from over 60 countries who applied this year! Their dream is to be a part of your family, attend your local high school, and get involved in its sports and activities to be fully immersed in a new culture!

Students can share a room with your child and come with a solid base level of English, health insurance, and their spending money. The host family provides a loving home and extra seats at the dinner table.

What an incredible experience this could be for your family and Summit High while giving this student the opportunity of a lifetime that they will talk about for the years to come!

My name is Tanzeer, and I would be your Local Coordinator in the area, supporting you and the student however needed throughout the year.

Please reach out to me at [email protected] if this sounds like something you would like to participate in!

It was an honor to meet with the San Bernardino High School ASB class! Both my husband and I are SBHS graduates, and coming back for a visit, brought us to memory lane. The youth we were able to meet were certainly engaged and dedicated students. They are leaders and have a bright future ahead of them.

A lovely surprise was to see my Biology teacher Mr. Corigliano still teaching. Wow, that’s commitment to the teaching profession and students.

SBHS has a beautiful history and legacy in the region as the Go Cardinals!

8th Annual Latino History Bee. Who will win??

Congratulations to this week's athletes of the week: Kimberly Arellano and Mar'qele Jones.
Kimberly is a thrower for the track & field team and has improved by leaps and bounds this season. In last week's meet against A.B. Miller, she threw for personal bests in both the shot put and discus, where she finished in 1st and 3rd place respectively. Mar'qele is a member of the undefeated boys track & field team and has been instrumental in helping the team to the MVL title. In last week's victory over AB Miller, he won the 400 and 800 meter races and anchored the victorious 4 x 400 meter relay team. Nice work Kim and Mar'qele! Your coaches, team, and school are very proud of you.

"At the beginning of this month, 26 Thespians went to the California Thespian Festival and state competition. Some went to compete, some went to apply for jobs, some applied for scholarships and state opportunities, and some went to lead the tech theatre challenge and room monitor pieces for competition- so they were BUSY!

8 students applied for AND received technical positions to work the shows for the weekend: Diego Alvardo, Joanna Canul, Emjay Chhin, Alma Gutierrez, Jocelyn Esquivel, Tania Melendez-Corea, Alondra Ramirez, and Angel Salgado. Cesilia Lozano was hired as a stage manager for a student written play which ended up receiving first place at the festival! Alma Gutierrez was also named best lighting technician at the festival, receiving a medal for her accomplishment.

4 students received superior rankings on their songs and monologues which places them at the top 10% in the state and securing them an invitation to compete at the international level in Indiana this summer: Manuel Escoto, Jubilee Henry, Rachelle Hutto, Bishop Sotelo

One student applied for and was chosen to receive a scholarship to cover her registration for BOTH California Thespian Festival and International Thespian Festival, something only ONE student in California received: Angelina Waterson-Lopez

One student went through a rigorous process to apply to the California Thespian Board and was chosen to serve on the board for the 2023-2024 school year, meaning she will be represent out school and district to the entire state: Angelina Waterson-Lopez

Finally, I applied myself and my Thespian troupe for something called "California honor troupe" at festival this year and am proud to say, we WON! We even got a pretty plaque to hang in the new building when it comes

If you have any of the troupe 5334 Thespians, please congratulate them for their work :)"

We also had 3 students competing at the highest level in the SBHS District drumline and get 1st place at their quarter finals on 4/1/23 at the ADLA competition. The students participating are: Andrew Luna, Frank Mejia and Kaida Akahoshi

Congratulations to this week's athlete of the week: Selena Castellanos! A member of both the varsity water polo and swimming teams, Selena has exhibited the best qualities of a student athlete. She was instrumental in the swim team's victories over Indian Springs and Pacific by winning her races in convincing fashion. She looks to continue her season with a run at an individual league championship in just a few week's time. Nice going Selena! Your coaches, teammates, and school are all very proud of you.

Congratulations to this week's athletes of the week: Miking Cash and Aiden Zuno. Miking is a standout thrower on the track & field team that won both the shot put and discus in our meet against Redlands East Valley. In the process, he set not one, but two, personal bests. Aiden was the starting pitcher in our 12-3 win against Rubidoux last week. He pitched seven strong innings and struck out eight batters. Nice going gentlemen! Your coaches, teammates, and school are very proud of you.
