✨Spotlight: Jorge Zatarain

🎓 Class of 2016: Bachelor’s in Business Administration

Jorge’s journey at CSUSB was truly transformational. As a first-generation college student, he found not only a degree but also a purpose and a community that fueled his passion for leadership and service. His involvement as ASI Vice President and a member of the Santos Manuel Student Union Board of Directors was pivotal in shaping his ability to advocate for fellow students and master skills in budgeting, governance, and strategic planning.

Today, Jorge excels as the Director of Operations at El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center—overseeing the $7M El Sol Park and Learning Center development and spearheading key initiatives like a $1M Youth Mental Health Campaign. Not stopping there, he founded Lifting Our Stories (L.O.S.)—a nonprofit dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth in the Inland Empire through innovative leadership programs and community engagement. (Co-founded with Alejandro Gutierrez-Chavez)

Continuing his dedication to academic and professional growth, Jorge is currently pursuing a Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership & Management at USC, where he serves as President of the USC Latino Graduate Student Association and as a student ambassador for the Sol Price School of Policy.

💡 His advice to future leaders: "Whatever you think you can’t do, you probably can. Just need to grind it out."
