It was so cool to see in this artist rendition of the future Battle of Flowers parade that the contribution of the Academy is always remembered and appreciated!

Today 32 years ago I graduated from a Great Institution that I have engraved in my heart San Antonio Acadamy always present!!
Hello Everyone,
I used to cut the hair of several SAA students at Fantastic Sams. However, I've moved into my own space at Olivia Bloom Salon, 224 E. Olmos Drive, Olmos Park. I offer Back-to-School haircuts every Saturday in August (10am to 7pm). If you'd like to make an guaranteed appointment, text me at 210.885.8309. See you soon!
As a Big Sister in Big Brothers Big Sisters, I am mentoring a 14 year old girl who is very, very bright. However, she lives in an extremely disadvantaged home. Is there any possibility she would be eligible for any of your summer camp programs? Please advise. She is very worthy of your consideration and generosity. Thank you. Maxine Oesterling
Dear Mr. Webster, saw this and thought of you, best headmaster ever! Big hug!!

Operating as usual

For today's , we're joined by Alex Rivard '02, Director of Curriculum for the Alamo. Alex's job entails overseeing the education department and the field trip experiences that children, including our Academy boys, come from all over Texas to enjoy.

Prior to his current role, he was a social studies teacher for 8 years. Alex definitely believes that his time at SAA influenced his love of history and reading. "I am currently doing a deep dive into Texas history and reading every book I can find. I'm learning as much I can, so when kids come to visit, they get the best possible experience."

Alex, thank you for speaking to our boys about your experience during and after your time at SAA. Next time we're at the Alamo, we'll be sure to say "hello."

Congratulations to the SAA choir and color guard on spectacular performances at Friday night’s Spurs game vs. the Pelicans! Not only did we get to see all their hard work pay off, but it was a fun treat out for building community and brotherhood.

Yesterday was the WIldcats' first official game of the 39th season of lacrosse at SAA. It was super close, but the Wildcats pulled it off in the end and beat SMH 7-6.

This year, our team consists of 17 players, five of whom are brand new to lacrosse. Each and every one of our players contributed to yesterday's win. Way to go, Wildcats!

Look who stopped by today! Prof. Drew Kennedy (retired in 2012 after 43 years at SAA) stopped in to visit campus. Pictured with one of his students, Coach Myron Jones '96; and pointing out to his granddaughter where he used to live on campus on the third floor of the Stribling House.

Meet SAA’s Outdoor Leadership Program Coordinator, Coach Leon McNeil!

He teaches our young men outdoor education while offering opportunities to develop leadership skills with a focus on our school's core values: honesty, integrity, work ethic, and character development.

Besides teaching our boys here at SAA, he and his family also run a mentoring program for inner-city youth called City Kids Adventures, where the children learn how to train bird dogs, offshore fish, and hunt.

Thank you for being a part of our SAA family! 🐾

Our boys did an amazing job at all their track and field events yesterday as they competed against schools from all over the city.

7th and 8th grade athletes took second place overall while our 5th and 6th graders came out victorious in first place with 190 points. Some of our Wildcats even broke a few SAA records!

Corbin Crocker threw 38.1 ft. in the Shot Put event.
Beau Bregman ran the 110 Hurdle event in 15.3 seconds.
Trip Johnson ran the 100 Meter Dash in 11.8 seconds.
Jack Hall, Corbin Crocker, Trip Johnson, and Beau Bregman ran the 4x100 Meter Relay in 50.09 seconds.

Tom Beatty '77 visited our young men for today and spoke about his career as a safety engineer. The boys were intrigued as he brought out the equipment he uses on a daily basis. Russell, who was our 8th Grade Officer of the Day, was brought on stage to test out the safety gear and when strapped into everything, noted its heavy weight. Tom is in charge of handling safety measures for wind turbine generators that when constructed, are up to 300 feet tall -- the equivalent of around 10 Taylor Halls stacked on top of each other!

Our Virtuous Word of the Week is "diligence," and Tom stated that when doing his work, it's essential to be diligent when working safely to prepare the wind turbine generators. "What I learned from SAA is that honesty is the most important thing, that my word means a lot to me, and I can't be wrong or dishonest at my job or in life."

Thank you for visiting and sharing with the boys, Tom!

The SAA Honors Book Club just wrapped up "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" by J.K. Rowling and decided to play a game of quidditch, complete with actual broomsticks. Before playing, the boys were sorted into four houses: Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Gryffindor.

Each boy stood with their house, broom in hand, ready to claim the "House Cup" and winning rights. It was a sight to see as the boys ran around trying to retrieve the ball and working together as teams. In the end, the Hufflepuff House snagged the "House Cup" and all the prizes inside.

Mr. Meyer is doing an amazing job of creating a space for his students to be themselves while also being able to bring the books to life. What a way to encourage a love of reading!

We're excited to share that SAA 1st grader Robert "Bobby" Eng competed in the Spinner Invitational, claiming the Gold in Rings and Silver in High Bars. 🥇🥈

He showed off some gymnastic skills in chapel and did the splits in front of all his brothers!

We love sharing how talented our young men are and hearing about all their accomplishments, so please feel free to send us your good news on social media or email [email protected].

SAA is ending Read Across America Week with a bang as Miss Anastasia from The Twig Book Shop stopped by to visit 1st and 2nd graders. 📖

Students eagerly gathered around as Miss Anastasia exclaimed she'd be reading stories about books and how fun reading can be. She read "Too Much Froggy," "Todd's TV," and "I Like Books" as the boys listened and watched as she brought the books to life!

Thank you @missanastasiajoy for making the trip to SAA and encouraging our boys to find a love of reading.

Meet one of SAA's Culinary Staff, Chef Daniel Arkhipov! 👨‍🍳

Chef Daniel has just completed the culinary arts program at St. Philip's College. He has always wanted to become a culinary professional and knew going to culinary school would teach him different techniques and processes that could be used in his career.

Each day he helps prepare the SAA hot meal and also sets up the delicious salad bar. "I love seeing the kids enjoy the fresh food that we, the kitchen, create for them. With professional chefs working in the kitchen, they are getting the best quality food possible!"

Let’s all give him a big Wildcat shout-out! ✨ 🐯
