1) Sacra-MEANTs of Initiation. This bilingual OCIA formation process welcomes those seeking to receive the sacraments of initiation and deepen their faith.

2) Retreat Camp Alelu-YEAH!. A weekend evangelization retreat of fire-lit worship, deep prayer, joyful community, and unforgettable memories at our fall retreat.

We want to give a HUGE AND VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to our very own work-study, Ms. Eliana Dillard, for her beautiful commissioned art piece that now officially has a home in AD 158.

This commissioned art piece is titled, “A Dance with Sister”, inspired and in honor of The Center’s founder, Sr. Dorothy “Dot” Ettling, PhD. Eliana, you truly did a great job ma’am. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 This truly captures the essence of who Sr. Dot’s spirit, as well as the legacy she carries today.

Ms. Dillard is Junior pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Drawing. You may have also noticed her work in the printed release of the Winter 2024 issue of The Word with her rendition of our beloved Marjorie Jordan Carillon (also known as “The Clock Tower”)…I know, right?!

Eliana is just a testament to the many amazing students we have here on campus with talents that are beyond this world. Feel free to follow our awesome artist on her art journey and for any art inquires you may have!

Hey Cardinals! Come join us this Saturday, March 22nd, as we attend the 29th Annual Cesar Chavez March for Justice! Meet us at the Convocation Center at 8AM on Saturday with your UIW merch and colors for free transportation to, and from, the March. Get 4 hours of community service and free food upon our return! Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, shoes, and bring snacks (backpack with water and snacks for your personal needs). If you would like to transport yourself, the UIW team will gather near the corner of S. Brazos and Guadalupe Street next to the Guadalupe Theater (1310 Guadalupe St.).

Join us for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and compassion at our Annual Medical Mission Fundraiser Variety Show, where every ticket purchased and donation made directly supports life-changing medical care for indigenous communities in the remote areas of the Philippines.

This special event will feature a vibrant mix of performances, including live music, dance, comedy, and inspiring stories, all brought to you by talented local artists and passionate volunteers. From heartwarming acts to dazzling performances, the night promises to be a celebration of both talent and generosity.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards funding our medical mission, a collaborative project of the San Antonio Filipino American Chamber of Commerce (SAFACC) and the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability, which provides essential healthcare services to underserved indigenous groups in the Philippines. With your support, we aim to bring medical professionals, supplies, and treatment to those who need it most, helping to improve lives and empower communities.

Come for the entertainment, stay for the cause — and together, let's make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need. Your participation will help ensure that remote communities receive the care, hope, and resources they deserve.

On Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. at the UIW-Broadway Campus’ SEC Ballroom, join your fellow Cardinals and San Antonio community at the 3rd Annual Brotherhood Summit, sponsored by the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability and University Mission and Ministry.

Connect with UIW Cardinals and treasured members of the San Antonio community as we foster mentorship, strengthen fraternal bonds, champion lifelong learning, and cultivate enduring relationships. Regardless if you’re an international student, student-athlete, freshman, UIW Alum, a female student/faculty/staff that would love to learn more, or not a member of any extra-curricular activities, you’re Cardinal Family and you’re invited. Bring yourself, bring your mentor, your father figure, etc. we’re in this together!
