The Outstanding Black Student Leadership award will honor a UTSA student who has shown strong leadership skills and service towards the Black and African American community.

Nominations must be submitted to the UTSA Multicultural Student Center for Equity and Justice (MSCEJ) ~ by 8:00am on February 15, 2021. The Award will be presented at the end of Black History Month (February 2021).

Nomination requirements:

- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.00
- Must be currently enrolled at UTSA
- Must show campus leadership involvement
- Must show active service towards the community

The mission of the Multicultural Student Center for Equity and Justice is to promote an equitable and socially just campus for students through community building, campus advocacy, education and programming.

Giving Day will unite alumni, students, faculty, staff, parents and friends to in support of their favorite colleges and programs. These gifts keep many of the university’s outstanding educational experiences affordable for even more students. Kimiya Factory is the Executive Director of Black Freedom Factory, an organization that encourages data-driven activism, redefines professionalism for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ communities and youth, and dismantles racial inequity across the state of Texas. She also leads and is the co-founder of the movement, which challenges Title IX policies regarding structural violence and sexual misconduct at institutions across San Antonio. This workshop is hosted by UTSA Survivors Faculty & Staff Alliance and made possible by the Office of Inclusive Excellence for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

At UTSA, our celebration of AAPI month begins during the month of April before the departure of students and many members of the campus over the summer break. During the month, UTSA hosts a variety of events that highlight the many cultures and traditions within the AAPI community. @utsapeace is presenting in her performance of, Seeing (red). This workshop is focused on addressing sexual violence, domestic violence, and dating violence. The event will take place in the HEB SU Ballroom.

Ebony Stewart is an internationally touring and performance artist. Her work speaks to the Black experience, with emphasis on , , , and , with the hopes to be relatable, remove shame, heal minds, encourage , and inspire folks in marginalized communities. Check out her IG @gullyprincess

"Assistant professor Sylvia Mendoza and co-director of the Mexican American Studies Teacher’s Academy Gloria Vásquez Gonzáles have been awarded $5,000 through UTSA’s Westside Community Partnerships Initiative for their project titled “The West Side Sound Oral History Project.”
