What a wonderful weekend of music and friendship. These wonderful musicians came together over Friday night and all day Saturday to put together a concert with students from across SAISD. Whittier has a great showing, having the 1st chair baritone, and 1st chair baritone saxophone! It’s amazing to watch the drive of these individuals and their hard work has payed off. The band sounds and looks great! Bravo on what is going to be a fantastic concert of wonderful music!
What a great day to be a Hawk! 7th grade girls continued their tournament today, starting with Lowell. The girls were persistent and hungry for a win and ended that game 3-0, earning the opportunity to compete in the district championship game against YWLA. Our ladies kept their eye on the prize and came together as a team to win 3-1 against YWLA, earning the title of DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!! 🏆 Way to go ladies, we are so proud of you!!!
Next, SAISD hosted their annual history fair today. Whittier had two entries in today’s History Fair, one was a 7th grade group exhibit and the other was a 6th grade individual exhibit. Both entries won 1st place in their divisions, earning them the opportunity to advance to Regional competition in February! Way to go ladies!
One more week until break, hang in there everyone. Enjoy your weekend!
Tonight, our 8th grade girls played their last soccer game. They fought hard throughout two cold, wind beaten halves, worked together as a team, and showed true growth. We are so proud of our 8th grade girls and we look forward to seeing them in cross country and basketball season.
Our 7th grade girls brought home a win against Poe tonight. The game was another long, brutal battle in the icy wind, and at the end of the game the score was tied 0-0. Our girls won in a shoot out and have earned the chance to advance to Saturday’s game. Good luck, Lady Hawks!!!!
Our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball had an incredible season this year. All of the boys played with heart and determination, sportsmanship and teamwork. We look forward to seeing the boys in cross country and soccer season!
Last but not least, shout out to all or the students and faculty who came together this week for semester exams. We know how truly “testing” this week has been and we appreciate ALL of the hard work that each and every single one of you do! Bundle up for tomorrow, it will be cold!

Our Hawks put in some serious work this week! 7th and 8th grade Boys basketball fought hard against Harris. Unfortunately 7th grade A and B team, and 8th grade B team came up short of a win. The boys worked hard and came together as a team and will push on next week to face Poe. Congratulations to the 8th grade A team boys for coming out with a well deserved win!!!! 🏀
Next in sports we had our Lady Hawks who bundled up in this cold/drizzly weather to battle against YWLA. The 8th grade girls came out victorious 2-1. The 7th grade girls battled hard throughout the game and ended up in a shoot out. Although our 7th grade ladies didn’t come out victorious, they learned some valuable lessons that will help prepare them for Tafolla on Thursday!
We are so very proud of our girls and boys for putting in the blood, sweat, and tears this week!!! ⚽️

The 7th and 8th grade Lady Hawks battled HARD today in their game against Longfellow. The 8th grade girls battled two, long, physical halves ending the game 0-0. They had to go into a shoot out and went three rounds, coming out victorious 1-0! A huge shout out goes out to their goalie, who was truly a brick wall, not letting one ball past her today! Next up was the 7th grade girls, who also battled two long halves. The game was also physically demanding, but the girls were able to get a goal in early in the first half. The girls worked hard to maintain their lead, and ended the game 1-0. Their goalie also had some amazing saves, not letting one ball past her! Way to go ladies!!!!! ⚽️⚽️⚽️
