From the classroom to the competition mat, Ava Cabalona is setting an incredible example of dedication and determination! 🤼‍♀️

Ava is an 8th grader at Garcia Middle School who is making her mark on the wrestling mat while excelling in the classroom.

She is currently ranked 5th in the nation in her weight class in girls wrestling and has competed at both the state and national levels representing Takedown City Wrestling & Jiu-Jitsu, Team Texas and San Antonio.

As girls wrestling continues to grow, athletes like Ava are helping show the next generation of girls what’s possible in the sport.

And while she's reaching new heights in wrestling, Ava has also maintained straight A's every year since 4th grade! 📚

Way to go, Ava! We’re so proud to celebrate all you’re accomplishing on and off the mat! 👏

Congratulations, Bryce! ⛳️

The Beard Elementary 4th grader recently competed in the South Texas PGA State Championship and earned 5th place in the 6–8-year-old division!

Bryce Gonzalez was the only San Antonio representative in his age group to place in the top five. What an accomplishment! 🏆

We’re so proud of you and this incredible achievement!

At its Aug. 11 meeting, the NISD Board of Trustees voted to place a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) and several bond propositions on the November ballot.

A VATRE would provide additional funding for day-to-day district operations, including employee compensation and other essential costs.

Bond propositions would support major capital investments, including facilities, safety and security, technology, and the George Block Aquatics Center.

In the coming weeks, NISD will share more information, visit campuses and departments, and answer community questions about the proposed elections.

A proud moment for NISD Police! 👮‍♂️

Last week, NISD Police welcomed eight new officers and celebrated two officers promoted to the rank of Corporal during a special swearing-in and promotion ceremony.
