Did you know language therapy can actually re-wire a person's brain? It enables the left hemisphere do the heavy lifting of reading. Functional MRI's show that struggling readers have very little activity in the left hemisphere of the brain, but with structured language therapy that changes. I am trained to do this therapy. If you have extra plastic eggs lying around, here is a great activity to make for your preschoolers and kindergarteners. Separate the eggs and write the number and number word. On the other half write the corresponding number of dots. It works best if you miss match the eggs so your child must count, not just match colors. With toddlers you could do color words on eggs in the corresponding color. Hint: using one size eggs makes this much easier.
It's hard to believe it, but the school year is racing to a close. With summer right around the corner, it's time to start planning summer activities. Summer is a great time to engage in swimming and camp. It is also the perfect time to help your student prepare for the fall.
