We built IDSA on the belief that swimming strong and thinking strong are the same skill.

Half the work is in the water, but the other half is in your head. So we train both equally, every session, because mindset is the secret weapon behind every great athlete.

Registration opens tomorrow for our newest clinic with Maverick Swim Club ! Don’t miss it.

Come train the whole athlete.

Maverick Swim Club, we’re coming back for ROUND 2! 😍🌊

8th grade and High School athletes, mark your calendars for October 4th! We’re evolving last year’s clinic by introducing one of our favorite ways to train an elite mindset: A Race Simulation.

Athletes will be prompted with high performance research, pre-race routines & cues, mental rehearsal and centering breath to bring forth their best effort yet.

Registration opens this Friday so be sure to get your spot!

A few snapshots from our time with Fenwick Girls Swim & Dive 🥹🤍

After a hard Saturday practice — and with championship season on the horizon — we created a space to slow down and reconnect.

It was so amazing to see the girls regulate in real time! This day was about finding presence despite the intensity of competition, comparison or fear.

And our signature IDSA tools took us there — through honest conversations, breathwork, yoga and visualization, we were able to receive feedback like: “it felt very peaceful and calming,” and “it truly helped me visualize and see myself achieve my goals, which makes them feel much more achievable.” 😍🥹

Thank you Fenwick! Go get ‘em this season! 🤍🖤🤍🖤

This Week’s Current 🦋 acceptance is to notice, breathe, choose, and go!

I used to think that acceptance was a passive activity - reluctantly letting something that happen to you - until I realized, early in my swimming journey - that it was a skill to cultivate.

With each goal I set, vision I wanted to chase, and life I wanted to embody - acceptance was a combination of this practice. A practice we ran with our Fenwick Girls’ Swim & Dive team this weekend!

Notice: How you are feeling. How are you training? What is going well, and what could you do better…

Breathe: Whether through yoga, meditation, or the cadence of my inhales and exhales on the wall during a set… let your breath guide you to presence.

Choose: Who you want to be. What qualities did those people embody? How can we be more like them?

Take Action: GO in the direction of those you admire, and in the direction your trusted coaches guide you.

I would repeat these steps over and over and over again. The stakes got higher every time I had a new ridiculous goal I wanted to reach.

Here’s an exercise for you… write down a goal that terrifies you, one that feels totally out of reach. Then underneath it, write: this goal is attainable. Then ACCEPT it. You can do it. You know you can.

This Week’s Current 🌊

I feel empowered today, and I know that feeling will change. So I can’t rely on emotion alone. What I can rely on is consistency, faith, effort, discipline, and play. That’s the list that keeps me centered because all feelings will pass.

New Current drops every Monday inside The Deep End, our online home for high performance mindfulness.

Things aren’t happening TO you, they’re happening FOR you. That’s the reframe gratitude gives you.

Think about how easy it is to look at a hard set and think “I HAVE to do this.” Now shift that one word: “I GET to do this.” How lucky am I that I even get the chance to try…

That’s how 12-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin trains her mind. Not “I have to kick my own butt every day.” bBut”I get to.” Not “I have to grind through five or six hours of training.” But “I get to chase being the best I can be, every single day.”

She says that shift is what carried her through the roughest stretches of her career, because professional sport is finite, and she wasn’t going to waste a single day of it feeling burdened by something most people never get the chance to do at all.

Earlier this week we asked you to reflect on your past season and express gratitude towards it. Now, where in your training can you shift “I have to” into “I get to” and invite more gratitude into your daily training. Drop it below!
