It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Casey Asher (BFA, 2010) on August 21, 2023.

Those in the Graphic Design program who knew Casey knew him for his creativity, determination, and keen eye behind the lens of his camera - but more importantly for his kindness, selflessness, humor, and wit.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening, August 29th, from 6:00-8:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North (3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio, TX 78230).

A Rosary/Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday morning, August 30th, from 11:00am-12:30pm at (St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Clower Street, San Antonio, TX 78201).

Casey will be interred at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Devine, TX.

God be with you until we meet again, Casey. Our prayers and well wishes are with your family during this time of grief and loss.

(A link to Casey's obituary will be posted in the first comment.)

Tomorrow night is our annual Alumni Roundtable. Each Spring we bring back four alumni to talk to the students about their post- UIW life as practicing graphic designers. We are ecstatic to have Eric Weidner (BFA ‘10), Jennifer Piatkowski (BFA ‘13), Jacob Hernandez (BFA ‘20), and Dani Ramirez (BFA ‘20). It’s gonna be a fun time for sure.

Once again, we had the opportunity to help our friends at the Salvation Army during Meet the Mission 2022. A group of 13 freshmen and three juniors joined Professors Clayton and Trevino in this service project. One of the students commented, "It felt really good giving back to the community. I felt like I made a difference."
