Meet Cameron Preston, class of 2023.

Cam currently teaches at Centennial High School in Burleson ISD, where he serves as a Special Education Teacher and Coach. This is his 4th year in education.

For the last three years, Cam served as the Physical Education teacher and a coach at Kerr Middle School. He shared, "This year I am really looking forward to my first year coaching Varsity football and basketball." This will also be Cam's first year teaching in a classroom, not just in a gym. "It is an exciting new challenge that I can accomplish," he added.

This school year, Cam is already feeling the love on his new campus. He said, "What I love most about my school community is the support we receive from our families. Our booster club does an incredible job of supporting not only our students, but also the coaching staff."

🎉 Congratulations to Freya Disrud '22 on being awarded a grant through the North East Educational Foundation! 🎉

Along with her colleague, Freya wrote a grant to support the learning of the Pre-K & Kindergarten students at Las Lomas Elementary School in North East Independent School District through outdoor play.

Meet Christi Blount, class of 2009 & 2011.

Christi currently teaches at Stinson Middle School in Northside ISD, where she serves as the Special Education Campus Coordinator. This will be her 16th year in education.

Over the years, Christi has had the opportunity to teach Applied ELA, co-teach ELA and Social Studies, and teach Literacy Skills. This year, she is excited to begin a new chapter as the Special Education Campus Coordinator. Christi shared, "What I love most about my school community is the dedication of our staff and the relationships we build with our students and families. There is a genuine commitment to helping every student succeed, and our campus continues to grow through collaboration and teamwork."

This school year, Christi is looking forward to supporting both students and teachers in her new role, strengthening special education services, fostering transparent communication, and working together to create an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Meet Dr. Leslie Holland, class of 2017, MAT.

She currently teaches at Somerset Academy Collegiate, where she has been since the school opened in 2017. Leslie teaches College Prep English IV, English III, AP Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, and AP Capstone.

What Leslie loves most about her school community is that, even though the school has a small enrollment, the community is like a family. She has had students and their siblings many years in a row, and she expressed that it is like having an extended family. Leslie has even attended a few weddings of former students, and has written college and job recommendations for many others. Additionally, she has created friendships with parents and grandparents. Today, some of her best friends are her teaching colleagues, and her administration is supportive of everyone.

Leslie shared, "What I am most looking forward to this year is working with the AP Science and AP Math teachers to take around 60 students to Johnson Space Center, NASA, to help them kickstart some ideas about their Capstone projects for the coming year."
