Had a tour of St. James yesterday with Sister Debbie Walker. Went through all the school building, lots of memories. Lots of changes too, class locations are reversed, 8th grade is now in the last classroom by Nunes Street, 1st grade is by the office building. There is a new building, to us at least, where k3 to Kindergarteners are, perpendicular between the old gym/cafeteria and the classroom building along Nunes Street. The new school is getting ready to pour concrete for the foundation of the new school at the corner of Theo and Nunes. It will be a 2 story building housing middle school, 6th through 8th grades, K3 through 5th grade will be located in the current K3 to Kindergarten building. Only the 1st floor will be occupied which will include the school office and administration offices. The second floor, while built, will not be occupied and not portioned into classroom. This will allow for expansion in the future. All the monies have been allocated for the new construction and removal of the old school by the arch-diocese; however, no funds have been allocated for new furniture for the new building. The plan is to open the 2026-2027 school year at the new building so fund raising will need to done in order to equip the new school. A big thank you to Sister Debbie for the tour after school. She answered a lot of questions, patiently I might add, for all of us there. We’ll keep you posted as the school year progresses, information will also be posted in the church bulletin. If I missed anything, please add them in the comments.
