This week, we are spotlighting Mauricio Fernandez, student at Baptist University of the Américas!

"When I came to Baptist University of the Americas, I never could have imagined all that God would do in my life through my time here. I came to BUA without a plan, simply following the next logical step in life. But before I realized it, God gave me a desire to grow in my understanding of Scripture and prepare myself for ministry. During my time at BUA, God brought people into my life who have encouraged, challenged, and shaped me. But most importantly, it was during this season that I met my now wife, Olivia. What began as simply being students at BUA eventually became a relationship, a marriage and a partnership in striving to serve the Lord. God has also opened the door for me to serve at Crossroads Baptist Church, where I have the privilege of serving as the church's Youth Minister and serving in other areas of ministry. Through teaching students, preaching and serving alongside other believers, God has continued to show me what it means to minister to people and faithfully proclaim His Word. Looking back, I can see that my time at BUA has been about far more than earning a degree. God has used this school to grow my faith, deepen my understanding of His Word, introduce me to my wife and lead me into opportunities to serve His Church. I am excited to see where He leads next, trusting that the same God who has guided me this far will continue to direct my steps."

We are so grateful for the generosity of the Texas Baptists family that makes ministry studies possible for students who sense a calling to full-time ministry — like Mauricio! Join us in praying for him as he continues on his ministry journey.
