Department of Theology at St. Mary's University

Our teach-in on immigration continued this morning. Yesterday, current theology graduate student and San Antonio Poet Laureate Eddie Vega opened the program! Sr. Mercedes Castillo-Razo gave a wonderful presentation called “Angels Unawares.”

Our university teach-in on immigration is underway! Sponsored in part by the Theology Department and the Miller Chair in Human Dignity, this two-day program is inviting the whole campus community to conversation about the realities of migration in the US and beyond.

The StMU Theology Graduate Program teamed up with Oblate School of Theology to put on our annual Theology Day on Saturday. Several St. Mary’s students presented research, friends were made, and there were tacos!

The Theology Department was thrilled to host Maria Antonietta Berriozabal and Sr. Jane Ann Slater at our Women’s History Month event on Wednesday, “Women, Faith, and Leadership.” Inspiring presentations, a great crowd, and rich discussion! Many thanks to our colleagues in the Center for Catholic Studies for co-sponsoring, and to the Greehey School of Business for hosting us.

Dr. Gray, Dr. Ronis, Dr. Hanneken, and Dr. Whipple attended the Society of Biblical Literature and American Academy Religion Conference. We celebrate their paper presentations as well new books by Dr. Ronis and Dr. Gray!!
