Empower House SA (formerly The Martinez Street Women’s Center) is in its 22nd year serving San Antonio’s East, West, and South community. Our Community Health Promotora Program strengthens families by increasing access to preventative health services, facilitating referrals to basic needs resources and enhancing the knowledge and awareness of health issues in our community. Through our Girl Zone

Program (after school sessions and Summer Camp) we enhance academic potential, nurture high self-esteem, and support the healthy development of girls age 11-18. We provide critical services, including a FREE Breast Cancer Clinic and FREE after school and summer camp for low-income families in San Antonio’s East and South East community.

You're invited: come meet Andrew, our new Digital Connector! Join us Thursday, August 27 from 3–6 PM in the Computer Lab (Room 200 Donaldson) for a casual meet & greet. This is your chance to put in your input on what digital workshop topics you'd like to see offered — your voice shapes what we teach next.

While you're here, check out our computer lab (open to the public!) and sign up for individualized, one-on-one computer skill assistance. Light snacks provided, and everyone in our community — internal and external, all ages, all identities — is welcome.

The Back to School Resource Fair is about more than backpacks.
It’s a mother crossing the last item off a supply list she’d been stretching across three paychecks. It’s a kid picking out a backpack in a color they actually love. It’s a family walking out with vaccination paperwork in hand and one less barrier standing between them and the first day of school.
This year, more than 300 backpacks were donated. Every single child who walked into our Back to School Resource Fair walked out with a backpack and a full set of school supplies. Not one family left empty-handed.
None of that happens alone.
This year, our community organized itself around these families in a way we are still sitting with. Neighbors dropped off backpacks. Partners brought resources, food, expertise, and joy. Longtime friends of Empower House rolled up their sleeves again, and brand-new partners showed up like they’d been with us for years.
