Our 1-year-olds had the absolute best time splashing around and exploring our mini "ocean" today! 🐳✨ Water play is so much more than just a fun way to cool off—watching them scoop up sharks, count the colorful fish, and feel the different textures of their ocean creature toys is amazing for their fine motor skills and sensory development. 🐙🦀

Our garden is in full bloom thanks to all the rain we have gotten. We have two tiny pumpkins a hummingbird garden. We even have basil and rosemary!

We enjoyed the activity called 'Tornado in a Bottle Part
2'! We got to play with our tornado bottles again, but
this time, we added oil and food coloring to one of
them. It was so cool to see how the oil and water
moved differently. We learned that oil is denser and
doesn't mix with water. When we moved the bottles in
a circle, the oil moved slower and separated from the
water. We used big words like 'swirling' and 'inverting'
to describe what we saw. We even got to suggest other
liquids to try next time. It was super fun and we
learned a lot about liquids

In Summer Camp today we learned that kindness matters. Kindness isn't just about avoiding mean words; it’s also about choosing words that lift people up. Our words have the power to build someone up or tear them down, and once they are out there, they stick. To visually explain this, we mixed salt and pepper together and then tried to separate them. Spoiler alert: it’s pretty much impossible to get all that pepper back out. Ms. Melissa explained that the pepper represents harsh words. Once we let them out into the world, we can't just take them back. Even if we apologize and try to "pick the pepper out," the impact still lingers.
