Building the Team Behind Student Government 🐆

Thursday, our SGA Senators, Executive Board, and Judicial Branch came together for an evening of connection, collaboration, and community.

This social event gave our branches the opportunity to get to know one another beyond our individual roles, build relationships, and begin creating the strong sense of teamwork that will guide our work throughout the academic year. Most importantly, we were reminded that effective student leadership starts with a shared commitment to serving our students and strengthening the TAMUSA community.

We were also grateful to our SGA advisors, who took time to remind us of our mission, our purpose, and why this work matters. Their words encouraged us to remain grounded in the values that brought us together and inspired us to continue building a student government that makes a meaningful impact on campus.

We are excited for what this year will bring and cannot wait to welcome our Jag community back to campus. Here’s to a year of collaboration, leadership, service, and making our mark on the future of TAMUSA.

A great day to be back!  SOLDD reminded us that leadership is about learning, serving, and growing together. So excited to reconnect with our fellow leaders and colleagues as we kick off a new year of making a difference.

In May, Student Government Association President Caroleena Mancilla and Vice President Mayleen Mendoza had the opportunity to represent Texas A&M University–San Antonio at the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Council (CSAC) Student Affairs Symposium hosted at Texas A&M University–Kingsville.

Over three days, student leaders from across the Texas A&M University System engaged in conversations on student success, career readiness, and leadership development. Through workshops, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and collaboration with fellow student leaders, they were able to bring back new ideas and perspectives that will help us better serve the students of TAMUSA.

One of the most valuable parts of the experience was connecting with students from across the A&M System. While every campus is unique, we all share the same goal: advocating for our students and creating meaningful opportunities for their success.

Thank you to the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Council and the Texas A&M University System for investing in student leaders and providing opportunities to learn, collaborate, and grow.

The 18th Session of SGA made a lasting impact on our campus, bringing together advocacy, service, engagement, and student voice in meaningful ways. 🐾

From hosting 47+ tabling events across colleges and residence halls to creating direct feedback channels between students and leadership, we prioritized visibility and connection at every level. Through initiatives like Monday Movement, we built consistent, low-barrier spaces for students to engage, connect, and be heard.

We honored our community through traditions like Jaguars Remembered, giving space to reflect and celebrate the lives that shape our campus. We also invested in sustainability and student ownership through campus planting and cleanup efforts in collaboration with incredible campus partners.

Our first large-scale Food Drive addressed both food insecurity and hygiene access—bringing organizations together to collect 400+ pounds of essential items for students in need.

On the advocacy front, SGA pushed forward legislation to enhance the Student Service Fee, supporting long-term improvements in campus events, recreation, and student support services. We also continued strengthening our voice at the system level through CSAC, contributing to conversations on student leadership, academic planning, and basic needs support.

From safety initiatives and campus improvements to amplifying everyday student concerns, this year was about creating real, lasting change.

Thank you to every student, organization, and partner who made this impact possible. The work continues!

Paws up!🐾
