Thanks to HMMSA Director Leslie Met and Education Manager Dr Jessica Hanshaw, and Chef Linda Wolfe for your amazing hospitality in hosting the Fall TLA District 10 and CORAL Conference. Plenary speaker Dr Travis West delivered a life-affirming teaching on the Sabbath practice for the rest our souls crave. Delegates enjoyed delicious kosher breakfast and lunch. We also had a choice of eight breakout sessions offering CEUs for participation. Just when it seemed like it could not get any better, we were graced with in-person addresses by TLA Executive Director Shirley Robinson and TLA President-Elect Elizabeth A.M. Howard. TLA President Gretchen Pruett was present to demonstrate her support. You may access the business minutes and presentation slides in TLA Engage D10 later this coming week. Thanks to everyone for an excellent time of learning and networking. Respectfully, Dr Daniel F Flores, TLA D10 Chair.

Introducing the TLA District 10 Fall 2023 Conference Plenary Speaker. Date: October 20, 2023. Venue: Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio.

Interactive Presentation: "The Sabbath Way: Finding the Rest Our Souls Crave."
The material will be based on his forthcoming book Radical Rest: An Introduction to the Sabbath Way, Tyndale House.
Dr. Travis West (1980- ) is an Associate Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Western Theological Seminary (WTS) in Holland, MI. He has studied Hebrew in the US and Israel and has been working with a team of colleagues at WTS to create an innovative and interactive Hebrew curriculum since 2006. He is a firm believer that transformational learning is greatly aided by having fun and that adult classrooms (especially Hebrew classrooms) do not sufficiently include play. His first book, Biblical Hebrew: An Interactive Approach, is an attempt to remedy this situation, while still maintaining a high degree of grammatical competence. He is a PhD in Old Testament from the VU University Amsterdam where he wrote his dissertation on the use of performance as an interpretive method for the Old Testament narratives.
