🚨 IMPORTANT INFORMATION 🚨
📚🐾 SILOS ELEMENTARY ATTENDANCE GUIDE 🐾📚
We want to make sure our Silos families have the information they need when their child is absent.
Here are a few important reminders about attendance, absence notes, and medical documentation:
📝 If your child is absent:
Parents/guardians can submit the online absence form through Skyward. The form must be submitted within 5 school days of your child returning.
🩺 If your child is sick or has a medical appointment:
A doctor’s note may be submitted as documentation for the date(s) covered by the note. If your child is absent 3 or more consecutive days, a doctor’s note is required to excuse the absences.
🏠 No doctor’s note?
Parent notes may be submitted through Skyward. Medina Valley ISD allows 3 online absence forms per semester, for up to 6 absences total. After that, additional documentation or administrator approval may be required.
🔤 Know your attendance codes:
🟢 M – Medical: Medical appointment; documentation may allow credit for the entire day.
🔵 D – Doctor: Missed the entire day for a medical appointment with medical documentation.
🔴 A – Absent: Sick, fever, vomiting, etc.
🟠 T – Tardy: Arrived late to school.
🟠 G – Left Early: Student left school early.
🔵 N – Nurse: Student was sent home by the nurse and/or must remain home for 24 hours.
⚠️ A few important reminders:
• Absences must be properly documented to be considered excused.
• Parent notes received 5 or more school days after the absence will no longer be considered an excused absence.
• Students may be subject to disciplinary action when absences are unexcused.
• The district is not required to excuse an absence simply because a parent provides a note, unless it meets an allowable exemption.
