Last week, our Charles Butt Scholars came together for our ‘26 Fall Gathering. 💙

It was a fun evening where our returning scholars and new scholars had a chance to mix, mingle, enjoy some yummy food, and get to know each other better.

It’s going to be a great semester!

We are BACK! ❤️🖤👌 There is nothing quite like the energy of the first day of classes! We were so excited to welcome our students back to the NEST and to celebrate the start of another semester.

A BIG thank you to UIW Kappa Delta Pi Chapter for helping us kick off the school year in the sweetest way with a fun popsicle party for our Teacher Education community! Your thoughtfulness created the perfect opportunity for students and faculty to reconnect, meet new friends, and celebrate being back together.

Here’s to a fantastic semester, Cardinals! We are so glad you are here! ❤️🖤👌

Join us in welcoming Assistant Professor Dr. Frances Gonzalez-Garcia to the Teacher Education Department at UIW! ❤️🖤👌

Dr. G.G. holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in literacy. Her passion for literacy equity advocacy stems from two decades of supporting learners from diverse and marginalized populations across K-12 Title and non-Title settings.

"So excited to officially join the Dreeben School of Education! I look forward to creating spaces where our students connect theory to intentional practice—growing into confident, purpose-driven educators who transform lives and advance educational equity. Doing this meaningful work alongside such a talented faculty of thought leaders is a true privilege!" -Dr. G.G.

Who says summer is just for beaches and binge-watching your favorite shows?!? Our students are proving that learning never takes a vacation! 🧠💡

This week, some of our University of the Incarnate Word Charles Butt Scholars were able to attend the Summer Bridging Institute hosted by UTSA COEHD.

This annual event brings together educators to share and learn insights from each other. The goal is for participants to walk away feeling inspired and equipped with new ideas they can implement in their classroom. 📚✏️

Shoutout to all the students balancing fun in the sun with leveling up their skills. ✨
