June 19th, 1865, also known as Juneteenth, is significant in Texas as the day the emancipation proclamation decision reached our state.
We celebrate this day in honor of remembering the emancipation of African Americans who had been enslaved in the United States.

After moving from Colorado to San Antonio, Amy Hardy found a supportive community at UT San Antonio that reshaped her academic path. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Mexican American Studies, a journey that helped her reconnect with her heritage, and she is now preparing to pursue a MAS graduate certificate and an MBA at UT San Antonio.
