With that legacy in mind, we wish students, faculty and staff another great year pursuing excellence in health professions!

Can therapeutic yoga support breast cancer recovery? Gustavo J. Almeida, PhD, PT, associate professor of physical therapy and assistant professor of orthopaedics at UT San Antonio, is a co-principal investigator on a research project led by Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, MPH, that aims to find out.
A new research project at UT Health San Antonio is studying how therapeutic yoga may support breast cancer survivors during recovery.
Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, MPH, received a two-year, $400,000 leadership grant from Susan G. Komen to compare therapeutic yoga and standard physical therapy among Hispanic breast cancer survivors in South Texas. The study will look at how each approach affects quality of life, fatigue and physical function over 16 weeks.
Therapeutic yoga includes controlled movement, breath regulation and meditative practices.
