Focused study in Fine Arts provides students with a strong foundation in studio-based courses such as painting, drawing, film and photography, digital art, sculpture, ceramics, and the disciplined study of art history. Art Program Highlights
The Associates of Art program focuses on students developing creative and critical thinking skills through the exploration of historic and contemporary issues
of art and through the use of diversity tools and methods related to art making. Many of the courses offered take a multi-disciplinary approach, which aids students in discovering how the creative arts can lead to many applications and career paths. The Fine Arts department maintains state-of-the-art facilities for traditional and digital media including:
- a traditional darkroom for film photography;
- multiple digital studios with MAC computers with Adobe Creative Cloud Master Suite;
- painting and drawing studios, fully ventilated for working in a wide range of materials;
- ceramics studio with kilns for hand building and potter’s wheel work sculpture studio for
- working in wood, metal and mixed media;
Palo Alto College Fine Arts also manage two on-campus exhibition spaces, Gallery100 and ProjectSPACE which showcase works by students and professional artists.
