Announcing our official coach for Rowdy Roller Derby ! El Matador
Bio: My name is Anthony Mata aka El Matador. I have been a member of the Roller Derby Community for 10 years. I consider myself very fortunate to have learned from some of the best mentors in the country. After about seven years as a official, I started two teams. I taught recruits that had never skated before and I enjoyed the coaching and training. Due to a shortage in practice facilities, we merged with a local WFTDA team.
The following are some of the teams and tournaments I officiated and coached:
Texas Governors Cups (3 times)
Texas Clover Cups (3 times)
SK808 (Hawaii)
Battle of the Banks II (Bank track)
Blood and Thunder Boot Camp.
Alamo City Roller Girls (Official and trainer)
Crude City Roller Derby (Head ref.)
RollerCon (9 years)
San Antonio Derby League (Founder, Coach and trainer)
San Antonio All-Stars, 2 years (Founder, Coach and trainer
Approved by San Antonio Parks and Recreation to teach Roller skating.
The Penalty Box, a Roller Derby gear and wear store (Owner)
I have also coached numerous Mash-up games. I believe in utilizing all players and playing as a team.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of your organization.
