Board president Alicia Sebastian invites the District 2 community to a meeting Oct. 17 at 10 a.m. at Sam Houston High School. Community members can meet new Superintendent Dr. Adrian Bustillos and learn about the latest projects, accomplishments, and key updates happening across District 2.

Congratulations to four SAISD tennis teams that have advanced to the Region IV-5A Bi-District Finals. Highlands raced through league play undefeated with a 5-0 record and won the district championship for the third straight year in a row. The Owls will meet Eagle Pass Winn Tuesday (Oct. 6) at 1 p.m. at McFarlin Tennis Center. Edison went 4-1 in district play and finished runner-up. The Golden Bears will face Laredo Martin Monday (Oct. 5) at 1 p.m. at McFarlin Tennis Center. Jefferson took third place in district with a 2-3 record. The Mustangs will meet Laredo Nixon Monday (Oct. 5) at 1 p.m. at McFarlin Tennis Center. And Lanier took the fourth place spot in district play at 2-3. The Voks have advanced to the playoffs for the first time in four years and will meet Medina Valley Tuesday (Oct. 6) at 10 a.m. at McFarlin Tennis Center. Go Highlands! Go Edison! Go Jeff! Go Lanier! Go SAISD!

Last month Sam Houston High School Band Director Savannah King received the best surprise! The chose her program to kick off its 2026-2027 grant season, delivering a $5,000 grant to purchase concert chimes for the program.

Congratulations to Ms. King, and a huge thanks to the Foundation for supporting our educators for 20 years and counting, with help of funders like Amazon.com and others.

Family Engagement, SAISD kicked off year 3 of our SAISDads Support Group last month, welcoming more than a dozen fathers to the group this year. SAISDads is a space for fathers to support one another, share ideas and experiences, and create a safe space to grow together as dads, men, and members of our SAISD community.

El mes pasado la Oficina de Participación Familiar y Comunitaria dio inicio al tercer año de nuestro Grupo de Apoyo SAISDads, dando la bienvenida a más de una docena de padres al grupo este año.
