Incarnate Word High School

Earlier in April, the 2026 IWHS InvestHers Club earned first place for Best Performing Portfolio Overall at Finance Fest, hosted by Saint Mary’s Hall. The Lady Shamrocks were the only participating team to grow their portfolio and also placed second in the stock pitch competition, where they presented their research before local investors.

Every stock in the championship portfolio was researched, pitched and selected by club members. This marked the third consecutive year IWHS earned first place in at least one phase of the competition, with the team never finishing below second place in any category.

This morning, our school community gathered in faith for our Back-to-School Mass, asking God to guide and bless us throughout the year ahead. We also celebrated two special IWHS traditions, the Freshman Tie Ceremony and Sophomore Pin Ceremony. May these symbols remind each student of the sisterhood she belongs to. ✝️☘️

Tomorrow marks the first day of an important new chapter for the Class of 2030! We wish them a year filled with meaningful friendships, new opportunities, and God’s guidance along the way. ☘️

As we begin our 145th anniversary celebration, we honor the generations of students, alumnae, educators, families, and friends who have each played a part in shaping our story. From the traditions passed down through the years to the friendships and memories that last a lifetime, every chapter reflects the spirit and mission of IWHS.

We look back with gratitude for the foundation laid in 1881 and move forward with faith, continuing a legacy that prepares young women to lead with confidence, compassion, and purpose.

Here’s to 145 years of faith, tradition, and Shamrock pride, and to the many chapters still waiting to be written. ☘️✨

Today, our IWHS community joined Catholic schools from across the Archdiocese of San Antonio for the annual Convocation Mass, gathering in prayer as we begin another school year rooted in faith and our shared mission of Catholic education.

During this special celebration, we were especially blessed to honor Mrs. Gloria Fuentes-Medrano as the Archdiocese of San Antonio’s High School Teacher of the Year. For 34 years, Mrs. Medrano has answered the call to serve, sharing her faith, knowledge, and love for her students with generations of young women.

We give thanks to God for Mrs. Medrano’s vocation as an educator and for the many ways she continues to reflect Christ through her service to IWHS. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor! 💚☘️

Our Big Sisters and Little Sisters officially met at today’s picnic! 💚 Seniors welcomed the freshman class with lunch, posters, and baskets as they spent time getting to know one another.

We can’t wait to see all the memories they’ll make together this year! ☘️
